i am about to get a new engine next week and i was wondering if there was any difference betwqeen a break in fuel and a regular fuel? will it make a difference in the engines life? my normal fuel is Trinity Monster Horsepower should i buy a quart of the trinity break in fuel or will it be the same as running the MHP?

I think there are a few schools of thought on that. Personally, I don't use break in fuel. I just run the engine rich and start leaning it out after a few tanks.

I use trinity MHP 20% for break in and running.

I get on average 6 gallons through an engine before it needs pinched, rebuilt or replaced.

4 quarts =a gallon how i usually buy my fuel . so 4x6=24 quarts i think. dam thats a long time. i guess i can stick to my regular fuel and not have to waste that money. thanks olds!

Keep in mind I also take pretty good care of my engines. ARO after every day of running, always put the piston at BDC when ever shutting down the engine, run in a temp range of 210-260 and clean filters often.

Don't get me wrong, break in is one of the most critical times of an engines life, but so is maintaining properly after breakin.

with my old engine i would use aro after a day of bashing. i learned that early in the game i should mark my flywheel at BDC. and I'm very temperature superstitious i never really let it old engine run past around 250. i consider that HPI engine as my learning experience that why I'm taking the time out to buy this new engine and didnt drop something in as soon as i got my car.

I usually break in my engine with the fuel that I plan to use. I have also tried using O'donnel 20% as a break-in fuel and switched over to Byron's 20% and found good results. Only real reason I switched to byron's was because I didn't like the smell of o'donnel's exhaust and excessive nitro residue/oil even after retuning the engine after break-in.

O'donnel get's mixed reviews. It's all personal preferance. If I were you, break in the engine with the fuel you plan to use.

I used MHP 25% to break in my GS Storm buggy, seems to be doing fine. I would break in with whatever you plan on using.
