Right now I'm running 20% nitro 12% lubrication. I was at one of my LHS today to get a few things and fuel and they said i should be running the 20% / 16% lub. but i have ran 2 and a half gallons already and have been very pleased with the performance. Will my performance be any better if i switch to the 16% lube or should i stick with what i got????

Brand? Engine Size? and Prices?

I ask for prices, because they may be saying that to make you pay more for the 16% lube.

oops...its a savage 25. The fuel is the only one they sell wich is Byrons and i think the price on the 16% was 27.95 and the 12% is only 18.95 for a gallon.

That doesn't seem right that the % of oil would make a difference in price like that. Are they the same percentage of nitro?

Anyway, any good fuel that is mixed for cars/trucks will be good. The biggest factor in making your engine last and perform is how you tune it. You can have %30 lube and burn the engine out in a gallon, or a good 12% and have the engine last 5-6 gallons. As for fuel I have used, I have used Byrons, HPI powerfuel, Blue Thunder, Trinity Monster Horsepower, and my personal favorite, O'Donnell. All the fuel I have used has been 20% nitro,

Both fuels are 20%. I have have my engine tuned dead on the nuts and it performs great so if its not gonna make a big difference than i dont wanna switch. My temp stays pretty consistant at 220-230. The hottest its ever gotten was 253 and that was on a hill climb.

if you are tuned spot on, then don't sweat the % of lube in the fuel, buy a good fuel and you should be good to go. Everyone has their own opinions on fuel. Some like Blue Thunder, some think it sucks, and so on.

The percentage of lube will not give your engine any better performance

Well thank you very much for your input nitrodave !! I think ill stick to what i have been running since I'm happy with the performance.

thanks again

The percentage of lube may not directly affect performance, but it will allow the engine to run cooler. More lube equals cooler running engine (up until thermal break down of the lube).
