I was searching in ebay and came accross this picture.

pipe_filter.jpg

Does anyone here know why?

Because it looks cool and cool is what counts.... :D

Maybe it's an attempt to keep the oil from getting the side of the truck dirty or an attempt to muffle the sound of the engine.

Perhaps this guy is in California where the emission laws are a little strict. :D

I honestly do not know. This does not strike me as a way to improve performance. It will create more backpressure into the fuel tank and exhaust port of the engine, but I do not see this as a good thing unless you are running a huge lenght of exhaust manifold or extremely long backpressure line to your fuel tank...even then, I can think of no real gain.

Perhaps this was just a make-shift exhaust plug to keep it from dripping on his table. Note that it is not zip tied to the stinger.

:D I am going to ask the seller now. Let's see what the dude going to say about it.

Okay news alert, I had a couple of beers and had to try this low cost experiment----- It bairly mufflels the sound. I dont see no use .

Maybe he likes ruining air filters? Some sort of vendeta... I can't believe he's trying to quiet it down, the 2.5 stock exhaust is the quietest one I've run to date with my savage 21 stock being the loudest.

Aight guys. Here is the responde from the seller

"Cause I'm dumb and I thought it went there. Sorry."

LOL

like on the back of the NYC busses this guy should have a sticker that says "This T-Maxx runs on clean air technology"

myjeep do you have a link to the particular auction this picture came from?

Does this mean he never had the air filter on the carb????

 I guess he is selling for someone else and put the filter on the pipe (he has no clue what he is doing) to make it look better before taking pictures.

Look at the top of the picture and you can just see the base of the stock T-Maxx air cleaner installed on the carb.

You know, I dont think that filter would even fit on the 2.5 carb neck, But hey, it slides over the stinger so why not?

Some people?

Maybe he thought it was a intercooler truck & by adding the filter there it would become a turbo truck
