why electric over nitro?

I believe the passion for wrenching on them will keep my love for nitro leveled. Even though speed will come from electric. I would rather be slower and actually hear my rig rip past me than not. Not bashing electric in any way and would love to have one but i do in fact love keeping my mechanical abilities tuned by running nitro and gas and also love the challenge of making them go faster than declared possible. Now on planes i thing differently. I'm more concerned about not crashing more than i am hearing the engine run and working on rebuilding it when crashed! Its much more upsetting when i crash a plane then when i crash my cars!!!

I've had both...electric is fun dont get me wrong. and i never ran out of bash time. but theres no "work" about the only thing u have to do right is make sure esc can handle the batts and the motor is properly alined. on a nitro ya have to have some mechanical ability. when a electric motor goes all ya can do is buy new. when a nitro engine goes i have the option to rebuilt and actually "work" on it.

Some of us old timers remember a day when nitro out performed electric, and are to stubborn to admit the fact electrics can be "cool". It used to be that the only thing batteries were used for were flashlights. But not anymore... the power of modern motors and batts is just simply stupid fun!

Ask not "Why Electric over Nitro?", Ask instead "Which do Chicks prefer?"
I've Pondered the Electric over Nitro question too many times, Always come up with the same answer "Their niche products." Why Helicopters over Fixed Wings, Why 4x over 2x, Why Crawlers over Road racing and vice-versa?? Everyone out there w/$ to spend has their niche.
IMHO Consumers don't adapt well to change. They WILL change if SHOWN the benefits, but for the most part won't do it blindly and need a push to get them to @ least consider spending some of their hard earned $ on something worthwhile to them.. I happen to fall into the Nitro niche, I can afford the time/space/skill/ to operate/maintain I.C. engines and R/Cs. Sure, I've had a couple electrics but the out of the box experience didn't satisfy me, I started this hobby w/nitro and I think that until there's an electric that'll drown out the sound of my neighbors bitching @ me or flat out scare em away, I'll stick to Nitro.
Literally, Just my opinion..

I love. Nitro on road and off road. Cars ! The only problem is I live California and its all going electric ! No nitro on road tracks and maybe 2 of road tracks . I just spent a ton buying a kyosho gt2 race spec then bought a picco JL .28 turbo . Then bought a savage 4.6x . And next week I'm Geting eather a Losi 1/5 scale or sc8. Losi is slow out of the box

I'm reading a lot about tuning and tinkering being a positive for nitro. In my experience(first 6 months I owned a T Maxx really), I found that once assembled correctly and sealed, the engine is either tuned or it's not. If you're constantly playing with the tune, somethings wrong. Electrics are every bit as tunable, if not more. I'll never run nitro down though. They're a blast. Electric has just passed em up. Not like nitro power will ever go away though. It's all good for all of us.

There's just something about an internal combustion engine that fits in the palm of your hand.
