Who wants a new cat?

Yeah, it was a dumb thing to do, but it was so weak i don't think it would have descended under control. I vowed to help them down with my Beeman air rifle next time, but it never happened again.

From what I've read a cat jumping from 4 stories is likely to live while one jumping from 2 is not. Initially they brace themselves for impact and will break their legs. If the fall is far enough though they relax and spread the impact over their entire body when they hit. Kinda cool. Looks like a flying squirrel!

I heard the same thing. From what I understand, when cats fall a great distance, they can spread themselves out to actually slow their descent. And they will kinda belly flop when they hit. At lower heights they are unable to do this. So it's true. A cat is more likely to survive a fall from 4 stories than 2.
Of course I once had a cat that fell about 2 feet. And during that fall, he perfectly prepared himself to land squarely on my nuts while I was sleeping. All I can say is that fall wasn't his only one that day....
