Just thought I'd share what I've been doing the last hour. I broke an axle upright on about a 6 foot jump... brakes were apparently a little wet and I couldn't get the nose down. Snow drifts ROCK! Landed on one rear tire at a really bad angle... may have broken a lower arm as well, but I don't think so.

Anyway, here's the aftermath pics. I couldn't get my wife to come out and shoot any movies... to cold.

It's a good thing I don't give a crap about the OS 21 RG that I have on it... the temps didn't get over 100 in 45 minutes worth of running.

Cool. I think the last R/C I ran in the snow was a Tyco FastTraxx. That was cool. :D

Oh yeah, next time you go out in the cold wrap the engine head with aluminum foil to keep the temps up!

The battery pack (homeade) is in 2 balloons and wrapped with electrical tape for durability against vibration wear holes. The receiver is in a balloon wrapped in foam for wear and shock absorbtion. I took the servo's apart and sealed the seams with RTV silicone and I also used liquid electrical tape and put 2 coats of it on the outside case of the servo's.

On the balloon necks, I squirted a dab of RTV in the neck and squished it around, then put 2 zipties close to one another creating a RTV bubble to further prevent water damage.

I think they are 10" round party balloons. If you go to small, they are tight and are more prone to getting holes. The balloons I'm using are large enough that they are baggy on the receiver and battery pack. That's also why I put tape on the battery pack, to keep it from sagging all over and getting caught on something.

Dam olds is there any snow left out side. I like the pics very cool We are supposed to get snow here this week. Ill be taken my maxx out for a winter bash fest.

Do you still blowdry everything dry when you refule?

Ummm... no. I just put my fuel in so it wouldn't die and I had to restart it.

After I sprayed it with a handheld shower head with super hot water to get rid of all the snow and whatnot, I put it on a my stand, blast the important areas with canned air and let it dry. Tomorrow, I'll oil the cvd joints and fix the axle upright.

Is that an RC Raven roll cage?

Yes, it is. The aluminum mounts they give you suck though. I made copies of them out of 3/16" steel. The cage bends pretty easy, but I bought it to help make the rear end of the bodies last longer.

How easy? I don't plan to land upside down off a 10 foot jump, but how would it hold up tumbling after a bad landing?

It holds up for normal tumbling. It bends when you land on the roof from a jump, but you have to kind of expect That. It bends where the front connects to the bars at the bottom of the windshield. It bends back though.

Ok, thanks. I think I'm buyin one from a guy here on the forum. Probably won't hold up like the RC-Solutions cages, from what I hear anyway. But, its a lot less $ so I think I'm gunna give it a try.

wow those are some crazy pics, looks like you had alot of fun :D

Looks like you had a blast, makes me wish it snowed in my area.

I dont get to drive that much.(school and stuff). So what affect does applying the brakes in the air give you?

It brings the front end down. The snow plow made a really nice ramp, but it cosistantly caused the truck to launch with the nose in the air. Tapping the brakes makes it level out and land on all 4 tires. As it was, it was standing straight up and landed really bad.
