i just finished drifting with my buggy..it has the SH .28 p3 engine..so anyways after i go bashing or racing i run my buggy at low speed and see if everything looks and sounds right...well my engine is brand new it's only been through 6 fuel tanks after break in so i run it at low-med speed and i can hear whistling sound coming from it...it sounds kinda like a turbo...my filter was kind a dirty..maybe its from that...or the tuned pipe is broken????? any ideas?:\

i just ran my car a couple of rounds around my house cause i forgot to put After run oil well i tried to make it wheelie by pusing down the spoiler and hammer the throttle it wheeled then i heard my 3 year old cousin shouting "backfire, backfire" i didnt belive so i did the same thing again and looked at the stinger and there was actually a small backfire..after that the engine died i put the AO...is that normal? extra nitro in the engine??

yea i also bought a new tank of nitro..25% same brand...maybe from that? and the engine revs soo high sooooo fast! normal? hehe its my firs high performance engine so I'm kinda worried..

cheack the engine temp my revo wouldent ever stay cool after 3/4 throttle you will here backfires

your engine should never backfire. the whining sound you hear. I would guess first off that the gear mesh is to tight. if your not seeing any performance decrease. if you are, then it could be the flywheel spinning on the shaft or something in the engine wrong. I would play it safe and open it up to make sure your not damaging anything.

its not a whining sound...it sound like air being sucked in...when i wot it the sound goes away(maybe because i might not hear it:P) and well it backfires..as in flame coming out of the pipe...blue sometimes white flame

you can't know your temps are ok unless you test them with a temp gun. as for the whistling, check your mesh like beason said. and fire coming out of the pipe is NEVER a good thing! do you see smoke at all? and what point in the throttle do you see smoke?

When I was breaking in my last engine I had some of the same problems. I was like you and didn't see a problem with the plug. I fought it over and over until I replaced the plug. Also on another engine I had the stinger that did not seal at the engine that was causing a weird sound. Check the screws on the head also to see if they are tight.

everything is all tight...and hey it takes a while to get to high rpms ...its tuned ok ..just a little to the rich side...is it the LSN? I'm not sure it is because i have it on full throttle...does the lsn have to do with it? should i lean it out?

when you richen your HSN it also richens the lsn slightly so yeah try to lean the lsn a bit and test it. repeat till you have good acceleration dont go to lean on the lsn or you will get high idle issues.

well i leaned out the lsn and hsn today...it was a different car =P i didnt know it was this powerful! i quickly richen it out ... don't want to damage the engine...

That is why a temp gun is a necessary item to have. You can do a few laps and take the 3 seconds to look at the temp if all is good run a couple more laps for a bit then check again. I do this through out the entire first tank of the day. Once everything appears stable I might check it once or twice during each additional tank. This is also a great way to detect problems, if all day your running 245F and then all of sudden your up to 270F might be a good indication you developed a air leak, or some other issue.

Thats a good solid temp, thats the benefit of a temp gun you were able to lean your engine out more today. Now you see you had a lot more to gain from that engine.

will it be ok if i run it a little be richer? the plugs go bad but at least the engine wont,,,would it? i run it rich because i "believe" that running rich lubricates the engine and keeps things cold

well that really depends on how rich, to rich and you risk chance of loading it up and damaging connecting rod. you could always just use 20% nitro it has more oil. I recommend leaving hsn slightly rich but leaning the lsn enough to get a good take off that will reduce the risk of flooding still keep you on the cooler side, and get you up to speed quicker.
