I would like to buy a good truggy. I plan on racing and would like to start with a GOOD truggy and work my way up to a great Truggy.

What Truggy do you reccomend and why please? Priced accordingly for a newbie with a passion... SO something affordable and easily upgradable.

Thank you for the help

Hot Bodies D8T. Brand new they are a tad over $300 for the kit. Nice little rigs too....can be great, and inexpensive to purchase. Plus you get to build it. You could also get a used Truggy roller... A bunch of different ways to go really.

What does your local hobby shop stock parts for? That's usually a strong move to get something that has parts available locally.

The D8T is a the best inexpensive choice. A Jammin X2 would be fun and durable enough to learn with. Honestly you can take the Losi 2.0 RTR out of the box and race competitively. It's pricey, but it comes with 95% of what you need. You'll spend more trying to piece together anyother truck with all the gear the Losi comes with. The Losi 2.0 is argueable the fastest truggy on the market.

I mean anything that fits in your budget is good really. Just about any name brand on the market is PLENTY durable.

I really agree with Scrogg on this one. You can not beat the Losi 8t 2.0. It really comes with everything. It has good servos in it, decent engine/pipe combo, a Dx3s, a starter box, not to forget that the truggy itself is a hell of a racer in RTR form. I have built a HB d8t, added up all the costs involved with servos, radio system, pipe, tires, bump box, etc. I would have been better off buying a Losi. It would have been exactly 12 bucks more without the headaches associated with building it.

Building the kit yourself helps you to learn HOW to repair it when it breaks...it also assures that it's all assembled correctly. So both options are good really....plus RTR's usually come with just OK support equipment that you will only end up upgrading eventually.

The Losi package really is a good deal for someone that just wants to drive though..

Just my 2 cents....

True.... there is a race roller by Losi that is not a rtr because it comes with no engine or radio; these you install so, it is only $100 dollars less than the rtr so it has to have above average equipment and hop ups, right?

Yes it is a little better quality, but the RTR will win a club race out of the box.
Honestly the RTR 2.0 is a great rig. Only things I'd change on it are the servos and engine. You don't need a .28 on a truggy. The Losi 350 .21 that comes on the buggy version is plenty strong enough for the truggy too.

hi all I'm not a begginer at nitro but want an off road model and i am looking 2 spend between £100-£200 any help appreciated

I would recommend you check with your LHS and see what they offer for you I do not recommend you buy a brand offline cause your LHS will not have parts to fit it. I started off with a .18 motor and within a few months I felt comfortable enough to upgrade to a Traxxas 2.5 so I do recommend you start of with like a .18 or .21 motor a move your self up when you feel like you can handle the power cause I have buddies that have never driven before and went out and bought a jato 3.3 or revo 3.3 and tore it slap up in about 20 min cause of the speed. Most 1/10 scale truggies and cars have a .18 or .21 motor so long as you dont get into the 1/8th scale right away you should be fine.Just my 2 cents but i hope it helps.:D

I have a Team Associated GT2. It is great for racing and off road action. You can do a lot of upgrades to it. It is my first RC and has really impressed me. I got mine for 350 at my local hobby shop.

I am also just getting into the racing part of it and picked myself up a mbx5t kit, had a lrp z.28r spec3 from previous rig. Thinking about getting a .21 for it though. The mbx5t seems like a solid truggy! I like it sofar!!

The MBX5T is a very solid Truggy. Still competitive as well at least at the club level. The MBX6T is a HUUUUGE improvement over the 5, but the 5 is still a very nice rig....especially for the price these days.
