Ill make it simple. I don't know what to buy, stadium truck or buggy. I dont know what kind to get, nitro or electric. I dont know what actual truck/buggy i want to get.
Let me tell you what I want and you tell me what would be best to suit what I want out of it. PLEASE dont just say "I think this because I think so and so's company is better than this ones".
Heres what I want, going from most important down.

1) Durability
2) Acceleration
3) Easy to maintain (including cleaning up after a day of bashing)
4) Go-anywhere-ability
5) Best bang 4 buck
6) Easy to work on (I'm still a bit of a newb)
7) Wouldn't cost a lot to get going on track

Right now I am leaning toward electric, the Duratrax Evader SP to be specific. I like the "stress tech" parts replacement warranty, and I like how it comes with many race-like features out of the box. I also like how its electric, which equals easier clean-up. Another thing I like is that its cheap, $150 (I could use other money for a brushless motor eheheh).
Well, that seems to be my thoughts, tell me yours!

Thanks

I'm not going to give you a specific recommendation, other than electric is MUCH easier to maintain, especially for a newbie. If you have a local track, you'll see that the guys running nitro are always doing some tweeking to theirs. Engines wear out or get damaged from running hot, and are expensive to replace. The cost of getting started with a Tmaxx vs. an Emaxx is about the same when you figure in the cost of batteries, backup batteries and the charger.
I have a Tmaxx and I really like it, but to keep it running right, it needs regular maintenance. I just saw a guy run an Emaxx for the first time, about a week ago and I was impressed.
The nice thing about the Emaxx is that the button on the radio that normally is forward/reverse on the Tmaxx, now acts as a manual shifter from 1st to 2nd.
Wait for opinions from lots of the guys here, and when you make your choice, let us know what you got.

1) Durability - Buggy (nitro or electric)
2) Acceleration - Buggy (brushless electric)
3) Easy to maintain - Buggy or Stadium Truck (electric)
4) Go-anywhere-ability - Nitro Buggy
5) Best bang 4 buck - hmmmm, this is a hard one
6) Easy to work on - 2WD Stadium Electric
7) Wouldn't cost a lot to get going on track - 2WD Stadium Truck
Electric

A few key points:
- 4WD buggies help with poor driving skills over a 2WD Stadium Truck.
- Got to give Nitro the award for "Fun Factor"
- I have a Duratrax Evader (bought it for my son). I quickly got bored with it and needed something more.
- Electrics can be hard to troubleshoot without some knowledge of electronics.
- Understanding nitro engines can be a challenge.

I kind of rambled on there, sorry. And I probably created more questions than answers. If you are just getting into the hobby and you are on a budget then the Evader's not such a bad buy.
Keep in mind that you get what you pay for. What I need to know is what specific kind of driving you plan on doing. Heavy bashing, back and forth on the neighborhood street, in the backyard on the grass ??

Thanks for the quick replies. I want to be able to drive in my grass without slowing down considerably. I also want to be able to take jumps and crash with some forgiveness, and not a broken part every time I do a cartwheel (dang you t-maxx...). My city is kind of an old-school type of city, it boomed in the 70s and went downhill from there. Therefore, there is a lot of places where the people started to do construction, and they just stopped. I want to be able to take those huge dirt mounds that I see at those construction places. And most of all, I dont want a couple of rocks getting in my way (This doesn't mean I want a monster trucks capabilities, you know). The most important is the acceleration, I really love to watch a car get to top speed in seconds from a standstill, the feeling is just awesome.
Thanks

The Evaders parts are more durable now than they used to be, I believe they have made some improvements. I can count on one hand how many parts my sons and I have broken in the 4 months we owned ours. My daughter has not broken anything to date.

If you decide on the Evader there are sites that offer good solutions to some weak points on the Evaders. One for example is http://www.usd.edu/~cgutzman/evader/, he has a fix for the stock servo saver. Tell you what, it works great. I bash and race with my ST and have yet to strip a servo gear with his fix. Also, the Losi XX and XXT graphite parts fit on the Evader BX and ST. The stress-tech warranty on the parts is an excellent deal if you dont want to go that route. When the Pro's come out they are even offering the same warranty on the graphite stuff, which is a great offer on their part. Just wanted to offer some input on the Evader but what you get is totally up to you. I am sure you will have a good time with anything you decide on.

I'm leaning toward the evader right now. But, I still have about a month or so until I get enough money to actually get a new one. Still not sure though whether I want go down the buggy or truck route. By the time I get enough money saved, they will have the evader pro's out, which look like an improvement from the originals.

i'd get a gas. you'd get so bored of the electric really fast. i know, my little broter has an e-rustler, and it's just so slow and boring to drive, even for him. you can get a pretty good, fast, durable nitro for around $300.

I have a nitro vehicle already, so I've driven one and I know the cost to get them going. I have a T-Maxx with a wasp .18 engine in it. Its okay, but I dont like how everything is breaking, and the acceleration just isnt there. I drove an electric buggy that my friend owns, and I was amazed at the acceleration. I'm the kind of person that would rather see crisp, quick acceleration to 25mph than slow acceleration to 70mph. I dont like how with nitro you are always cleaning up the thing every other week because of the exhaust. On top of it, the dirt sticks to the nitro and makes the dang thing so hard to clean up. I am sure that if I got an electric and put a brushless motor in there, it would crush almost any kind of nitro in acceleration.
So far I'm leaning toward electric buggy.

Here is a list that I have lined up of all the electric trucks/buggys I would consider buying. If I am missing one that should be on here, let me know.
