I have decided to upgrade my RTR OFNA stock radio in my Violator buggy. I dont want to spend more than 130 dollars (without servos). I found the following three FM radios, any ideas which is better or has an edge over the other? I will be using the Hitec 645mg servo for steering and 625mg for throttle.

These are the FM radios I found:

1. Hitec Aggressor SRX-3
2. Futaba 3PM
3. Airtronics MX-3
4. JR XR3i FM (which is the most expensive)

Any ideas? :jk:

I have personal experience with the MX-3 only but I think you will find it that it has all that you will need other than a SYnth RX and TX. You should check out the JR XR3i. Very dependable. you can get em at Horizon Hobby.

Forgot to mention that my servos have the S/JR/Z connectors so the Futaba may not work unless I buy the adapter or shave off the sides

shave em off. its no big deal. they will still fit on there regardless if you still have that idiot tab.

I had an JR XR3 and I now have a JR XS3. I really like my JR radio.

Before I got the XS3, I was contemplating the Airtronics MX-3S (the synthesized version of the MX-3).

mx3, i just got back into this, and i was shocked that a nice FM radio could b had 4 a 100bux. i really like it. big step up from the A and B model futabas i had as a kid, that cost just as much

3PM all the way. i love my futaba radio's! i also have experience with the mx-3 i belive (psunitro's radio) i set that up for him, and although its nice, it doesn't come with anywhere near the features that the 3PM does. also just an fyi. i have a friend that works at a lhs, he called me the other day to tell me they got in the new synth 3PM and its only $140, now this is without a synth receiver but it will get you in the synth door if you want to upgrade the receiver later.

I have two Jr xs3 pros can't beat them for the money.

2?!? why's that? I got rid of 3 controllers when I got my XS3. Works fine for up to 6 cars, 10 for the pro.

I have the mx-3 and I really like it. I had the JR XR2 and it was nice, but I like all the stuff on the display of the MX-3 that's there all the time. No guess work on trims, battery life and anything else you choose to be in the main window.

The SRX is basically the CRX's little brother, without the model memory. I love my CRX. Very comfortable, feature-loaded, and affordable. I also love Hitec for their great customer service.

Erick, all four of your choices are great. All very good radios. I suggest getting the JR XS3 Pro. Simply because it's synthesized and the days of channel conflicts will be over. MY brother has the JR XS3 Pros and I have the regular XS3.

yo man i say save your money and get a good radio.

M8, 3PK, JR, KO Helios
anyone one of these man. if you don't u will just waste money in the long run of things.

you will always in the back of your head said man i wish i could got this or that radio.

if i was you i would ask people that have these to hold and see how they feel to you.

i was a futaba man for many years from way back in the 80's then 6 years a go i said what the he!! my 3pj was working geat but i felt that the m8 i tried was nicer than my 3pj so i jumped ship. then just last year i knews some people that had the KO helios. i can say for one i was not happy with any of the ko lines b.c they where people with super small hands

:smoke:

so ask if i could hold wow i was in love the helios had a bigger grip plus i can move the wheel in an angle that made me feel as one with the radio. plus the helios is super fast faster than the 3pk that i have used.

what i'm getting at is try them all see what fits you. don't sale yourself short is all i'm saying save up and get a good radio it will last you for years. man i had my 3jp for almost 8 or 9 years. greg degani still use his 3pj. he could use the 3pk for free but he feels that the 3pj fits him.

just my .02 b. brotha
