I stripped one of the gears in my merv rear diff and don't know what to buy to replace it. On amainhobbies there are two gear sets, one if the diff gear set and the other is the ring and pinion gear set. The one I stripped is the one that is connected to the center driveshaft. When i spin the center ds it spins and the wheels dont. When I spin the wheels by hand, the gear will catch but only sometimes so i pretty darn sure i stripped the gear. please tell me which one to buy... Thanx in advance!!!

Its this one...

More than likely this one:

Either the ring or pinion.

However, it could also be the internal gears:

Your best bet would be to take it apart and inspect it before ordering. Your going to have to tear it apart anyway to fix it, so might as well do that now to diagnose it and get everything cleaned up and ready for the new parts.

Or if you can buy both, then you will have spares.

wait it didnt show the two sites i out in??? because i put in those two exact one but i think its the pinino gear that has the output shaft on it cause that is the one connected to the center driveshaft

Definately if you aren't sure quit guessing take it apart, look at the exploded view and match up the broken part. That is the only way to be sure because we can't see what you are looking at and don't want you to waste your money ordering the wrong part.

i have gone threw a few of these and it is always the ring and pinion. i started shimming them so they last longer but still killed one since.

i did take it apart and matched it up to find it was the ring and pinion so I'm gonna get a new one soon!!!
