which fail safe is the best?

Hey guys,
I am looking to get a fail safe for my nitro, i saw a venom samrt temp, does that one also has a fail safe for radio if it gets low batteries???

what fail safe do you recommend???

the venom or OFNA ones are great if you're on a budget......I wouldn't use digital servos w/ either of them....welcome to the Forum & where in FL are you?

i am in saint augustine,
but the one that venom is offering with the temp safe, does it also stops the car if it gets out of radio range?

Not sure< i thought the temp safety was only that and the batt/sig safety was another device......do you have a link to the one you're lookin at???
any tracks worth a 4 hr drive up there??

What is the normal temp for an engine?

~260 ish~ each engine has its sweetspot. but 240-270 is normaly where it is..

I have the smart temp on my maxx. If your engine gets too hot, it'll limit the throttle to your liking.

I have the Smart Temp on my Savage. It works just like they say it does. But... it tends to read high. For example, my temp gun reads 220 degrees, the smart temp will read 240 or so. I just adjust the setting for it. I set my limit on it is 280, so I know that is around 260 degrees actual. It depends on what fin of the heatsink you put it on. The low battery fail safe reduces the throttle, just like it does for temp. Out of range, it just stops the vehicle.
The thing works really well, but I had an issue that I had the temp cutoff set too low. So.... I started losing power and thought my needle settings were off! It was just the failsafe reducing power. You can set it to reduce by 20, 40, or 80 percent of throttle.

I have used the ofna and dynamites. Cannot recommend the dynamite one. It has a problem working with Futaba computer-type radios. the ofna didn't. I like the temp control idea, just a little more protection, but it is a larger unit. Here is a review on the VST:

they mention it keeps going back to celcius measurment, mine never has. has worked great.

A fail safe with temp control would be a PITA for me .. Get a engine @ propor temps using a temp gun will be more reliable.. I would rather have a fail save for "out of range or low batt volts.

Ensure the fail safe as low batts protection, this can be the biggest enemy a lot of the time!

can't go wrong with a Venom. There customer service kicks ass too! Failsafes made my truck glitch like nuts so I run without them, but I have the venom smart temp and am happy with it. VERY convinient. So a smarttemp would be ideal for ya. Id go with that! Welcome to the boards too btw!

i have tried XTM ,dynamite .ofna and venom and i like the venom best for just a staright forward failsafe ,the VST was a pita for me as well so busted has it now lol
