Hi Everyone,
This is a thread where you can list and talk about all the possible different engines that you can get to upgrade the Savage. Maybe we can figure out the answer to the never ending question, what is the best engine upgrade for the Savage.

Hello, may I suggest that you steer clear of the .46 Truckzilla engine? >.<
It's a pain to break in and tune, doesn't like fuel with lots of oil, and has low rpm (23,000) and it doesn't do wheelies like I expected from an engine with claimed 4.8HP (probably because I can't tune the engine)

If you like the size of the Truckzilla, check out the engineless Sport Truckzilla conversion at Meganitro.com.

Right now, I'm also looking for another engine and the Picco 26 seems attractive. Maybe the Wasp 28? Or should I save up for a Sirio 27?

Red Dog you should check out the XTM 24.7 or the 24.7 Pro, The reg 24.7 sells for about $130 and the Pro sells for $160. They make great power 2.5/2.6 respectidly. I have a 247 in my buggy and its fast as hell, and my Father has the pro in his monster gt and its stupid fast, he is running a 18t cb and the stock spur and he could go to a 19t cb with no problems. For the price you can't beat them.

I can second that I have the pro and the 24.7 and the 24.7 I had the pro in my 1/8scale and it was insane I also had it in my savage and same results, I now have the .28 Novarossi in my LST and by GOD this engine is to fast I bearly touch the throtle and its gone. FASTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

Is the .28 Novarossi significantly faster than the 24.7 pro? Where can I get those engines cheap? :D

Thanks for the info^^ Wow, 3 votes for the XTM. I guess I should really consider it. Hopefully it can make a Truckzilla go "almost too fast" (although I don't think there's such a thing as too fast) :D
It's a pity that hobbypeople don't take international orders through the online store (card details should be faxed or emailed, which worries me a bit).

can someone send a link to a 24.7 and how many horsepowerr r they?, and how many RPMs?

i have another question, why do they call it a 24.7 opposed to . 27 ro .28 of whatever?

thank you i will tell Reddog, he lives right near me, actually i was talking on the phone with him while i was writing this.

I just got a sirio .27...i havent got to run it yet but I'm hearing good things about it....

No problem, but why doesn't he just come on the forum lol?
he just happened to be on the phone with me so i told him right then and there.

Picco .26:
2.7 HP
37,000 RPM
$160

XTM 24.7 PRO:
2.75 HP
31,000 RPM
$160

Hmmmmmm..................
Seems like the XTM is a good match for my big Truckzilla, I heard that it has lots of low end power. I wonder if the Picco is better for certain purpose, like racing perhaps? I found a seemingly fun place where they race monster trucks (long straights and big jumps), and they run T-Maxxes, REVOs and Dominators there, and there are no limits on what engine and pipe to use...

Here are some pics of the track:

I get the feeling that I have to take off the Truckzilla wheels and put on some Proline wheels and tyres (and the engine to match).

Sorry, I don't know if the rotostart will fit the Picco .26...

But back to the hunt for faster engine:
I'm looking at Fantom .27 which has claimed top rpm of 42,800 with 2.81 hp.
I heard that the Wasp .28 is the same engine as the Fantom...
What are everyone's opinion on them?

I realise that the XTM 24.7 is highly recommended, but I'd like to hear about these engines too :)

I've personally ran an xtm 24.7 standard and am currently running a wasp .26 in my savage. the xtm 24.7 is alot more powerful than the stock S-25..and will have your savage wheeling all over the place. the wasp .26 will be borderline to much power..I'm running stock 15/49 gearing and it gets old flipping the truck off its lid becuase the wasp makes the truck wheelie at 1/4 throttle from slow speeds.

for 130$ the xtm 24.7 will be a great choice, on 20% nitro and a hot bodies pipe with odonnel 99 plug it has alot of power/torque and more top speed than the S-25 (forget about hpi's ratings on paper..the xtm smokes it in real life) and it seems to be easier to tune (for me it was) than the wasp .26, which i had to run 30% nitro and an O.S. A5 plug before it runs consistantly..but damn the power...

BTW both standard/pro xtm 24.7's are made by SH..and SH has a new .28 size engine out that people are saying is absolutly rediculous....
