RC Driving Style
right i've read all the stuff about the werks picco etc, and i just want to know which is the best engine for my truck(savage).
1.Werks picco p3
2.Ofna picco .26
3.Dynamite megatech .26
4.XTM .24
5.Fantom .27
6.Rb .28

i'm considering getting one of these but not sure which has more power. i've only heard things about the picco's and so am not too sure on the rest, i've tried the search and the search didn't help much.
 
Out of the ones you have listed the RB .28 would more then likely have the most power but, it is also the only one in the group that cost more then $200. I have the Fantom and so far I love it. If you still have your stock engine in then any one of these is a big improvment.

My top 3 picks from your list:

1.) RB .28

2.) FR .27

3.) Picco .26
 
My First Question Too You Is How Much You Looking To Spend you can go from $130.00 with the Hyper .21 which has plenty of power for any RC or you can go with $350.00 Rb Concept WS7II which has enough power to scare the crap out of yourself, what ever you choose its gonna cost some $$$ so start saving now and good luck.
 
The RB .28 could be a little overkill for power, i would suggest the FR .27...2.8 HP is about right for a savage.
 
I've experienced the Ofna/Picco Outlaw .26 on your list. It has very good power in the lower end. You did not mention the Sirio .27...it's wicked fast. I have it in one of mine with about 1/2 gallon through it. The power band that it's starting to develope is strong all of the way though. Much better than the .26. One of the locals has it in his Savage, more than enough power.
 
i didn't mention the sirio .27 because i know a guy who's got one and he's having troubble tuning it.

my price range is around the same as a new picco .26.
i'm after a new engine to beat the dynamite megatech .26 because my dad's got one and so i've got to beat it.

or i am now considering getting my stock .25 engine ported! but i haven't got a clue where to go or how much it will cost or how much more power it will give.
 
I would suggest not getting your engine ported but rather get a new engine. I would say either the Picco .26 or the FR 27.
 
those are the two that i'm going towards but which has more power, whcih is cheeper, and which has the best reports about it.
 
The fantom has 2.81 HP while the Picco has 2.7. The fantom is a new engine so there hasn't been much reported about it. The Picco, i've heard, has lots of low end torque to have you doing wheelies. The prices are very similar, somewhere around 180-200 USD. Either one you get i think you will love.
 
I've got a dynamite mach .26 in my savage and it's rated at 2.75 horsepower, it'll flip the truck on it's lid from a dead stop when it's tuned right. But overall it's wicked fast!!!
 
ok thanx craer but that doesn't really help me when i want an engine to beat it like the picco or the fhantom,
i reckon i will go for the picco just becase i can actually get them at my lhs but what is the deal with the FTX picco because my lhs has them in stoick and he has sold out of the normal picco's.
is it the same as the other picco?

which engine in your opinon would you go for between the fantom and the picco, if i was spending a little bit more for the extra power then i might just do that.
 
I have the fantom and at this point I would say get the Picco,Wasp or Werks P3 (All the same). The Fantom has a ton of top speed and it rip on the dirt but, if I run in grass taller then 3-4 inches it slows down like you dropped anchor! Seems like it could have more grunt. My Ofna Force .25 moves through the grass better then the Fantom. I was going to sell it on Ebay but, I am just going to run it in to the ground and drop in a Force .26 as a cheap replacement! Maybe what you want is top end or maybe both? I would grab a Picco!

i can get a picco .26 for £135 or do i get an FTX picco for £145, what is the difference between the two and i've heard that the hyper .21 8 port is good but which is better a picco or a hyper 8 port?

Maybe he's a lousy tuner. I have no problems tuning my 2. Plenty of power however the price tag is 370 - 380 and complete rebuild cost is well into the 400's.
 
i think i'll go for the normal picco that is £135 but if i can get the FTX picco down alittle should i go for that instead?

i've read alittle bit about the hyper .21 8 port and it's not as good as the picco atall so i'll go for the picco.
