Olds is correct.

If you decide to stick with the old style spur gear make sure you pick up a pack of friction pegs at the same time, and use all 12, put one in every hole, not every other hole.

Thanks for the responses guy's.

Is there a lot of difference wit the new style and is it hard to install?

Will the conversion work with a forward only, single speed transmison?

The new style is a far better setup. Those stupid friction pegs work for a few minutes with a decent engine, but melt down pretty quick. Back when I had a big block max, I went with a 1/8 spur without a slipper just to keep my spurs from melting.

I have no idea if it will work with a sportmaxx trans... It appears it's made for the 2-speed trans and comes with a specific top shaft for the two speed trans. Not sure if there is any difference to it other than how the shaft is milled or what.

I will. I bought a set of those to. I also bought two sets of slipper pads for the new version(I think). I'll get the new style when I find one I'm sure will work with the sport trans.
