ok well it was around 9 pm last night and my dad said put my engine on your savage i was like ok he has a xtm 24.7 brand new only 4 or 5 tanks ran through it so any way we put it on my savage it was a direct bolt up only thing we had to do was tighten the flywheel nut so that the cluth bell didnt come flush with the spurgear ok we got that fixed and then i cranked it up ane to my supprise i caint keep my savage on the ground this engine has tourq or however you spell it so if u wont a wheele machine just slap a 24.7 on your car.

I wish i could get my Mammoth to wheelie once in a while. i guest 12 pounds is just a little much for the 24.7.

I felt the same way with my 21 maxx... it gets old real fast when you can't steer, EVER! It is pretty cool though, but man, it's hard on the drivetrain.

I found best wheelies when I stiffened my front shocks and softened my rear shocks.

yea it does wheeles on the road i used the 52 tooth steel gear its sweet

the 24/7 should steel make it wheelie even using a 16/49 combo. that motor has lots of power. Glad to hear good reviews on this motor it gets a bum wrap a lot of times.

i love this engine it has plenty of power for a monster truck now i just need to lower it so that it dosent wheele on the track saturday

wheelies are fun.......untill you flip it Puck up your poop then it sucks i just bought a newera wheelie bar and it still flips over

It will wheelie onroad still with 16/49 still? Or just on grass?

rs43drifter, please let me know if your new engine can wheelie onroad with 16/49.

i used this engine the entire time i had my savage, it i think it was great i know i had a good 6-7 gallons on it and i never worried about the temp. i tuned so that it screamed, i know the temps were high, but it is a cheap mill that puts out good power. i had a 15/52 gear set up and it would flip over backward, on road or in the grass, on the track it seemed that it could not get enough tracktion so the tires would just spin rather than do a wheelie. i had my spur very tight and i would go through pinion and bevel gears and diff. cases, dog bones would twist also. so make sure your slipper is set up right or you will brake things

Yeah!!! Thats what I want to hear!!!
My another concern is hows the top speed compare to S-25? Also, is the xtm provide good power on the top end as well? Last, do you guys have any problem with the drive tranny?

I only broke in my s25 and never tuned it, i changed out to the 24.7 pretty quick cause one way bearings are expensive and dont last long, pull start sucks to but alot better than a one way, IMO. the only thing that ever broke was pinion gears, diff. case and bevel grears, and it was only like 1 time each. but the spider mod will solve that. I took the trans apart just to look at it and it showed no sings of wear at all, i was impressed. I never tried it but for those that have seen the 24.7 and the s25 could the roto start off of the s25 fit on the 24.7, cause the 24.7 does not have a one way on the back, it has someting else, so if the roto start could fit then that would be great, cause you would have the ease of roto start without the problems of a pull start and a one way.

Maksale no matter what you do if you install a roto start it will be hard on one way bearings period. All I am saying is that it will eventually eat your one way bearing in pretty much any engine you operate it in.

a 24.7 does not have a one way on the back like a s25

have you ever seen the back of a 24.7

YES But it must still have a one way bearing on it period and my only point is that no matter if it is internal or external a roto start is hard on a one way bearing period.

My S-25 has 3 gallons fuel throught it already, pull start for the first 1.5 gallon and roto for the rest, but I still using the same one way bearing. Most people said DONT set the HSN rich and SLIGHTLY LOSSEN the glow plug when starting the engine. I just follow that method (acturlly I set the HSN slightly lean when I start the engine), seems really work on my truck. Hope this help.

i run 15/49 gearing on my savage with an xtm 24.7 and hot bodies pipe, wheelies on any surface all day at almsot any speed. i feel as though the engine will still pull the wheels easily even with 16-17/49 gearing on pavement.

ok i just got back from the track and I'm dissapointed in my savage i ran a whole tank of fule and then when i restarted it it was just front wheel drive WTF so does anyone know how to fix this or did my diffs just die please help thanx

and yes a 247 has a 1 way its in the engine sorry just read the thread

check your rear diff, and hold the truck up and spin the sprur gear and see if the rear drive dogbone spins. if so you probably did something to the diff. you should up grade to the spider diffs. and also get the heavy duty dog bones, that engine will twist the dog bones, and make sure your slipper is set right.

and OK i stand corrected on the one way i did not know a 24.7 had one, i figured it was something else.
