Any tips on drilling out wheel adapters without having a drill press? I have a set of T-Maxx wheel adapters that I'd like to drill out to widen the hole so they'll fit on my USA-1 Crusher. They're really close to fitting now, so I'm not removing a lot of material, but the last time I tried this just holding the drill, the results were less than ideal. I don't want to go and buy a drill press (although I'm always looking for an excuse to buy new power tools) and no one I know has one.

Any ideas on a work-around?

Thanks!

I've seen "drill presses" that use your existing electric drill.. ALOT cheeper then a real press. you just mount your drill to it, and take it off when you need the drill. other then that clamp it down real good and go real slow.. widen the hole in steps instead of all at once..

Get a drill press. you will find so many uses for it. Plus they can take much bigger bits, like the 1/2 inch shanked bits. Sears has some small ones that are perfect for general use.

If you're not one to insist on a brand name, you can pop into Big Lots or Harbor Freight and get a simple bench drill press for like $40. Like I said, they're simple. But for doing things like this they'd work great.

easy solution and its free (asuming you have a bench vise) clamp the hub in a vise and drill on low speed with a SHARP bit

In the event you're looking, I found a drill-press set-up that uses your own drill, like beason suggested. Sears has 'em for $25.00. Haven't used it yet, but Big Lots didn't have them and a basic bench-top unit started at $100.00 here locally.
