hey guys.
whats your top speed?? estimated or radar confirmed. and what did you do get there?? me and a buddy put an e-maxx 66t spur on my bigblock t-maxx with a 20t cb. we couldnt find a cop with nothing to do, so we just geussed, but after a signifigant spool up time and it hit second and another spool up it felt like we were doin about 60-65mph we were haulin ass!!!!! whats your guys need for speed story??:D :w00t: :D

OK!! Its always the same story with these speed threads! I have an idea, If you can't post a varified video clip of your car at speed then why post at all? I have been reading these speed threads for as long as I can remember,, My car does 65, I know because I saw a car going 65 once and I just estimated it to be the same speed, or,, I saw a cop eating a donut and he clocked my car at 80, he was amazed!, or,, I just changed my spur and now my car can go 75,, enough is enough already! Is it just me? or is any one else sick and tired of these false speed claims?
No, I havnt snapped! Just tired of the dead horse speed claim issue!:2cents:

This is one in a million, they are all the same! unless its verified, its Bullshit!

And I never mentioned anything about your estimated speed so dont go personal on me!

But if it will make you feel better, I estimated my storm going about 40 this last weekend, but it looked like it was going at least 65, of course this is just my estimate, could have been goin slower, I dont know!

NM is correct in his POV about these "estimated" speed threads. It's a sad fact that during the heat of the moment, in our minds and seein our vehicles haulin ass, that we overestimate the speed. I think it's really a matter of scale or something. Also, the "fish tale" syndrome kicks in and it just goes from there.

There is only 3 methods I know of to determine real speed of our cars. 1) get a cop to radar it (probably the most accurate way), 2) Put a speedometer on it (like the VSM), and 3) do the camera trick (least accurate, but gives a real close reading). BUT, to make it "official", you gotta take pictures. Simply stating the my VSM showed 60mph isn't good enough to prevent the inevitable argument that will ensue (and it will).

Read this thread.

You will notice that there is not one post in that thread crying BS on the 47mph I eek'd out of my Lightning buggy. Not one. So please, by all means get a cop to radar your rides, or put a VSM on them, or video tape it and do the calculations, but get pix when you do it. I posted a link to a spread sheet I made in that thread that does the camera trick calcs for you, and if anyone has a question about how to set the camera trick up, PM me. The spread sheet is set up for the drive train on the Lightning, but if someone can send me the gearing info on the T-Maxx, I'll try to make one for the T-Maxx.

And I wasn't busting on you BBTG, I've just seen how these kinds of threads end up.

my bad i just thought this would be a cool thread and I've not been on here long enough to know its been posted to death!

Don't get me wrong, it's a great idea. I would just like to see other people posting real, verifiable info.

I am interested in the speeds of all the r/c's. IMO, manufacturers stretch the stats. If you read my other thread, you'll see that my Picco 26 only got up to 30K rpm, even though the out of the box posted rpms from Ofna put it at 37K. And with the 14t CB on it, the R's didn't climb by much, so IMO the max rpm for that mill is right around 30K stock.

Now, that brings up to out of the box speed claims from the manuf.'s Take for instance the claim of 47mph for the Nitro Rustler. I hear it's fast, but handles like a brick. And the Nitro 4-Tec doing 60 out of the box with a trx 2.5. That's my gripe. I don't think those are realistic claims, and would like to see proven results.

The easiest way is to do the camera trick. Measure out a distance, tape some high speed runs, and count the frames and run the numbers thru the spreadsheet. Everryone either has a video cam, or knows someone who does.

can u tell me exactly how to do that camera trick or where I can find out how to do it. I dont like cops, and I'm still skeptical on the venom vsm. ne1 know where I can get a radar gun?

Last sentance of my previous post. Look in the thread I linked to in the post before that for a link to the spread sheet I made.
