What's what in a tmaxx transmission (2.5)

Bought my son a 2.5 tmaxx with a 3.3 on it from hobby shop used and truck wold not move so long story short pulled transmission and found stripped gear but not sure what it is and what upgrades can be done

Do you still have reverse? Looks like one of the primary output gears. I'd have to see it kind of inside the trans case to remember. I haven't had a 2.5 maxx in many years. When I did, I didn't have reverse and all but the 2 speed gears were robinson racing steel gears. I ran a big block in mine. Got tired of taking the trans out every other tank. Back then, RRP didn't make the large steel 2 speed gears, so I had to run plastic for those.

Agreed, it looks like a primary output gear (part # 4995)
