Hey guys what do u think about the file sharing being illegal and people getting arrested and sewed for doing this..? I thik its all bullshit... I was reading the paper today and a old guy got arrested for his grandson downloading songs.. dont you think thats stupid? I sure think it is and another case is a young girl getting sewed for down loading songs...

I download songs all the time I have over 1500.. so I say come and arrest me Its there and wasn't illegal until greedy bastards feel they need more money to pay for their 10 cars and 4 houses.... and what about mp3 players where do you get the songs? well I got them from kazaa because I dont know of many other places to trade songs..

The main thing is why can't people share lol why is it illegal? What do u guys think I think everyone should go on a strike and screw all these music people and stop buying cd's or anything that they would make money off of and see how they like it....

They are mad because we have stopped buying CD's.So boycotting will do nothing but enrage them further and they will take larger steps to catch file sharers. If I understand it right they are looking for people with like 3000+ music files on there hard drive.I have alot of music on my PC but most of it is stuff I already own and I'm not sharing but it's no where near 3000 songs.I could be wrong on this but if you have the CD's and the songs are on your PC there is nothing they can do to you and there is no way for them to prove you don't own the CD.They are only looking for poeple with music files though so us porn freaks are safe for now.

I say let them arrest me lol.. well not really but theres going to be another kazaa in a month or so as soon as kazaa gets shut down...

ya this is bull poop these music bands like dont make enough money bull poop they need to crawl into a dark hole

altough i do not have kazaa but i think its wrong

While I understand the gripe about what is going on ( I was one of the ones named in the lawsuit by Metallica ), I am letting you know now, there is to be no discussion of Illegally copied software on this site. I am in NO WAY telling you that you can't discuss the topic. Just dont get into what who has and what who wants.

Follow?

Thanks in ADVANCE!

limewire isnt new my friend used to us it. it works but kazaa is way better. kazaa is the best IMO. just forget all the crap. you know how many people in this country have "illegal" music files on their computer?
let them come and arrest us all. they will need a jail the size of texas to hold everyone.

Just about everyone I know has kazaa... and about everyone they know has kazaa so they might need a jail the size of the whole east coast lol

How about I go and siphon the gas out of your car every night leaving you on empty every day. This would make you need to get gas daily spending more money on the gas I am going to siphon from you. Now after a few times of this you might get smart and buy a more expensive locking gas cap. Better yet you might spend a little more money and buy a gun so you can put a cap in my butt. Point being those who share files no matter which way you cut it are as wrong as two boys f******.

We are stealing. Yeah one song off a cd is not going to put the band out of business but it's kinda like what your mothers said about, "if everyone decided to jump off a bridge, would you?" While I do sare a file or two from time to time we really are stealing outright from the people who worked their butts off to make the stuff we are stealing. No matter what justification you put on the fact that they are filthy rich is beside the point that we are stealing.

The sad fact is, the recording industry isn't looking our for the musicians, they're looking out for themselves. Alot of "high dollar" musicians don't get what you pay for at the counter. That's what sucks. And that's why I listen to inports. And I know Inports are just part of the big family of companies, but I don't buy much in the way of music.

And as for radio, NOONE is gonna bust me for the bootlegs of Rush, Rush Limbaugh that is. Sean Hannity, Neil Boortz and Mike Savage. Hell, they want their stuff listened to by as many people as possible.

true altough i dont have to worry about gas because I'm not old enough and i see your point but you should be able just to get one song not just a whole cd and i do not have kazaa myself but i know people with it

I hope you guys are using Kazaa Lite ++ 2.4.2

If you are using Just Kazaa you have ads, you have less features, and the creators can see everything on your computer because the software is loaded with spyware. Go do a search for Kazaa Lite ++ 2.4.2 and delete normal Kazaa. Otherwise you have the chance of getting busted harder then Çh®i§tiªñ's nut when he's on the babe thread.

If the damn record companies were smart, they would just create a site like Kazaa & charge a fair price per song... I'd pay for tunes, especially if I could mix & match to make my own compilation... IMO, today's music, or I should just say "The music I listen to", just aint worth buying.... Most albums have 2 hits, & the rest is crap.... These record companies need to wake up, online sharing will never go away... So they might as well have their own site & charge a few cents/dollars....

That's a damn good idea. Just for simplicities sake, lets say the average number of songs per disk is 15, and the average cost of a CD in the store is $15, why not just charge $1 per song, have a "cart" that would keep track of the songs ya want, and have the option of either downloading the songs or having them burned to disk and mailed to ya. Just like software companies do. Hell, they could even have snippit samples so you could preview the songs before ya invest in them.

But they would rather people spend $15 on a whole disk, when there's only 1 or 2 good tunes on it, then you have to buy another disk at $15 to get a few more of your favorites.

I think if you could buy custom tunes online, it would be rather easy to see who is the most popular artist just by the sales figures. No more MTV music awards BS, it would all be driven by sales and tangible popularity.

Actually i think 1$ a song is bad they should charge like 15$ a month or like 15$ for 700 mb of songs that equals one cd.... I was talking to the ladie at a cd store she told me that the cd i was buy was 12 but then they found out they could make some money so they sold it for 18.... $18 for a cd that is alot for a little punk band.... If they want people to buy a cd it should be like 10 bucks each i mean 5$ would be way cooler but it wont happen.

There are a few sites now that you can "legally" download MP3 files from for a small fee. I thnk the cheapest is like 85 cents a song. Personally I havent bought a CD in over 4 years. I have no need to. Most of what I want to listen to I can find on the radio, borrow from a friend, or download. There are many many many ways to share all kinds of files (not just music) over the net for free. Still illegal, but free. And not just through file sharing programs like Kazaa and Limewire. These programs just made it "easier" to do it. So it began to spread like wildfire.

Is it illegal to have mp3 files on your harddrive? NO! Is it illegal to make copies of something you already own? NO! Is it illegal to convert mp3 files to cda format and burn them to CD? NO! What IS illegal is the distribution of these files to people who DONT own them. At that point you are distributing stolen goods and the govt can find all kinds of creative ways to prosecute you. If you download files (not just music) without paying the creator of those files you are then in possession of stolen goods.

Basically it comes down to this, if YOU were to create something and decide to go into the business of "selling" what you created, then you would want to receive payment from anyone who wants to have that something. If they dont pay for it, they are taking money away from you. No matter how large or small that amount of money ay be, They are stealing. Now, if you are sooo generous that you just wish to have others enjoy what you have created and decide NOT to sell your somethings, then thats fine and fully within your right to do so. But that doesn't mean that I also have to "share" just because thats a cool thing to do.

We live in a comercial society. Everything has a price and a worth to someone. Who are we to decide that someone elses time, energy, sacrafices, skill, talent , product is worthless. In my opinion, the only way to support your favorite band, musician, even hobby shop is to $upport them. Make it possible for them to continue giving you what you like. Make them WANT to continue giving you what you like.

But I'm a cheap bastard so I dont know when I'll stop.

Apple has a site like that. http://www.apple.com/music/store/
not sure if it works on a PC yet but i know they are working on one that will. I have used it from day one and love it. I also think it is lame what they are doing but any way you look at it people are stealing. The Itunes store from apple is .99 for a song and 9.99 for the whole cd not bad most of the time I just get like 3 songs from a disk. It is also kind of fast I am on 56k and can D/L a song in like 3minn. Also you know it is good quality not like allot of the songs I use to D/L. Chalk up another one for Apple!

If i'm not mistaken Kazaa is based in another country were our copy right laws don't exsist so I don't think it will get shut down like Napster did.I could be wrong on this but thats what i've heard.Thats why they are going for the people who are sharing ALOT of files and not the people who run it.I think it's BS that they attact the very people who made them rich.If it wasn't for us spending so much $$ on there CD's and are pissed now because we found an easier way to get it.If they really want to get $$ they should start selling blank CD's because file sharing isn't going to go away just by arresting a few people and trying to scare the rest of us and try to get us to stop sharing.I share some of the music I already own so they can eat my ass because I already paid and they are on my PC for my own personal use and it's not my fault people download it.

You are wrong. It's not theft, it's copyright infringement. Huge difference.
