I just bought this HPI RS4 3 ss from a guy. he gave me this pipe with it and told me it was for the car but he just hadn't put it on yet. It doesn't have a port for the fuel tank though. Can this be used on my car? The pipe is made of titanium.

Looks like the pipe off of the Ofna LD3, but I'm not 100% sure. It's hard to tell from a small pic. Can u put up a larger one?

For some reason, when I try to post the bigger pic it won't work. I don't know why it's doing that. I looked all over the web for another pic of it and couldn't find one.

Since you said it looked like Ofna LD3, I went to their site and sure enough, there was a pic of one just like it. It looks just like the pipe on the left of this pic except it's not chrome.

At least now I know what it's for. I just need to figure out what to do with it.
Thanks for the help.

This is it exactly. Would there be any advantage in tapping this pipe for a fuel tank port and running it? my RS4 has a .12r ss motor.

That pipe is a high torque, low end pipe. So it depends on what you are looking for, if bottom end it should work well for you. If you are looking for more top end then this is not the pipe you are looking for. Yes you can drill a hole in the pipe to add a pressure line for the fuel tank.

Well I guess I can try it and see what happens. I can always go back to my stock pipe. I have a hard time controlling the car at top speed anyway. So I may like this one.

Thanks,
MIke

Why are you having such a hard time controlling your car at top speed :radio: ? What suspension set-up are you running? And you can add a pressure port to that pipe. It's a pain in the :horsecrap , but it will make it more usable. If it's titanium though, you'll have a hard time drilling it :hammer: .

Parris, I'm actually getting the hang of it now. I was having a hard time due to my inexperience. I just got the car a week ago and it's my first RC car. This thing is pretty fast and I couldn't keep it in a straight line. I'm doing much better now though.

I don't think it is titanium now that I have looked into it. the guy that sold me the car said it was but I think he is wrong. I may just replace my stock pipe untill I upgrade the motor.

Later,
Mike

I haven't seen a ti pipe yet, but I'm sure someone is either making one or considering it :ponder: .

Don't be afraid to go a little soft on the suspension (man, I'm preaching :preachin: again). I know stiff looks cool and a real 1/1 sports car is stiff, but I've seen guys wrestle R/C cars  and their suspensions are so tightly sprung that the front end (or rear end) is bouncing off of the ground. Over dampening (50 wt oil and #4 shock pistons) has the same effect.

Yeah, I just ordered a set of yellow and a set of white springs because of your suggestion in my "New to RC" post in the intruduce yourself forum.

When I got it The thing was so hard to control, I have since bought a set of rubber slicks and it made a world of difference. the guy had some stiff springs on it and it bounces all over the place when I hit a bump at high speed. I also ordered the HPI composit threaded shocks so hopefully I'll have this thing dialed in soon.

Then I can work on making it faster. This is like a damn disease. I've been building cars for years. Now I'm building toy cars. At least this is much cheaper. :D
