Ok..... this might sound stupid, but I just dont get it.

I can understand rebuilding a Nitro Engine if you have a problem in it. But what is you have no problem?

I was on a web site for RC cars (forgot to bookmark it last night) and it said that it is a good idea to rebuild your Nitro Engine about avery 6 - 8 months (w/ constant use) or rebuild atleast once a year (if you use your Nitro RC car not as much). I have had my RC car since OCT of last year, and I have not had one single problem with the engine! I took the precautions and a run it a bit rich. I do run my RC car about 4 times a week, and for about an hour and thirty minutes, with 5 minutes cools downs when ever i need a drink. LOL.
I have not seen a loss of power, in my engine, and it still runs really good, everytime i shut down for the day, after run engine oil goes in it. Is there any reason to rebuild my engine?????

will do, i am trying to go back throguh my IE history, and find it, and I am also searching what i searched for yesturday?!?!?! but i cannot find it YET!

most of the time zoomer, articles like that are designed to help the average RC enthusiust. They are assuming that most people wont be able to tell when the engine needs a rebuild, so they just say those dates. truth be told, u should perform a rebuild when u need to. if your mill runs great, has no blow by or starting problems, and all is great, then dont worry about it. i have seen engines need rebuilding after 1 gallon of fuel, and others like my neighbor, that have been running now for 4 years, with no repairs.

I rebuild my mill at least once a month. Not only does it give you a chance to check all the internals so you can see if you need to raplace any parts, but it also makes sure there are no particles in there that can harm you engine. I am a believer that a cleaned dry engine without afterun in it will store better than a dirty one with after run.

what engine are u using???? if i did that with my OS, it would cost me over 800.00 a year!!!!!

I got an RB X12

When I say rebuild, I mean take it apart and clean every part and only change the rubber o rings.

A full rebuild overhaul, which is probably a good idea if you are a hardcore lifer. Especially at the first notice of loss of power or compression. But the super hard hardcores get new engines for every race and lean the fat out of the mill to get every ounce it can spit out.

yeah i agree. to me a rebuild is a replacement of piston and sleeve, along with any other rings, bearing, seals that need it.

zoomer - just because you engine is running fine for you, doesn't necessarilly mean a rebuild would be a 'bad' thing. Loss of power can be linear to the point that you wouldn't notice it running day to day. It's kind of like losing weight. You really don't notice the weight loss as days go by, but look as some old pictures from years ago and it all makes sense. Can you honestly say that your engine runs as good as it did brand new ?
