Another question from a Noobie, What is the best percentage of fuel to run in my Tmaxx 2.5? I do mostly off roading. (I'm from Minnesota where it stays preatty cool most the time) The closest this truck gets to tar is a gravel road. Any suggestions on brands of fuel also? In my plane I run 15% SIG fuel. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks

You'd probably be best off with a 20% nitro content fuel and 14% oil. It's good general purpose fuel and will more than likely serve you well.

yeah, el pirata is right, The fuel i use is Sidewinder 20% and i wouldnt run a day without it.

i would recommend running 20%, thats what the majority of the bahsers run. i use Trinity Monster Horse Power 20%. works great, and IMO its better then Top fuel, even smells better. sniff sniff.

THe best fuel I've found for the 2.5 is actually TraxxaSS Top fuel 20%. I can remember the oil content off hand. I've run Team Sidewinder's backyard basher blend in the 2.5 with good results and it definitely lowered temps some but you don't need 16% oil.

is it the lower the percentage the warmer it runs?? or the other way around?

in a way, kinda... but the lower percentage you get... the less power i think.. i would just stick to 20% , flat out and simple:angry:

Also, NEVER use helecopter/ airplane fuel on your r/c car. haha

IME you c slight increases in cooling overall with higher oil contents. You will also c a slight decrease in power with more oil so it's all a trade-off. Your can c increased engine life running higher oil fuels but it's not going to seriously increase the life of the engine. Just make sure your engine always has a nice rich trail of smoke coming out of the stinger and you know your engine is getting lubed.

As for running higher Nitro % like 30%. Many run 30% and are happy with it. You may have to shim the head or use a different head depending on the engine. You'll often c an increase in power on the top and bottom end. For many peoples taste the often small increase in power doesn't justify increased temps and sometimes decreased engine life. I definitely wouldn't run 30% in the 2.5.

My favorite fuels are
Top Fuel for the 2.5
O'Donnell
Blue THunder
Team Sidewinder.

I'd highly reco the Top Fuel or O'Donnell for the 2.5 IME.

Definitley stay away from other types of Nitro fuel like Skyline pointed out...lol.

I wasn't sure and ordered my fuel already. Good thing I just got a quart. I got the 10% traxxas fuel. Will this be o.k. to run until I can get some 20%?

Yep that will be just fine, traxxas says not to but many members here do it with no adverse effects.

The higher percentage nitro also gives you better idling at lower rpms. I've been running 20% since I started and all I do is bash. But, I have gotten a lot of life out of my engines. (aside from a recently broken crank shaft). If you run 10%, the oil in the fuel may make it harder to keep running if it's much over 12% oil. This is why I run the higher nitro. The extra helps it burn smoother and allows you to run a little richer to preserve engine life.
