Looked at all the threads under revo and can't find what the purpose is for the FOC or for that matter what it is period? Is it a conversion that eliminates the ability for reverse? if so....I just got a used one and need to know what it looks like on the truck to determine if the kit is on it?

Pics of it would be great but an explanation would be just as good.

thanks

Matt...

Also, just got my picco 26 max back from my lhs. It went in for a complete rebuild (piston, sleeve, arm) I can't get over just how much pinch that thing has as it rises towards the top!!!!! I keep thinking it's going to break again! So with that in mind, does anyone have a good link on how to break the motor in, and what the factory settings are for that engine? Or even a link for the owners manual would be just as helpful. I know I have to season the bore and piston again now that everything is brand new, and I am thinking if I set it back to factory that will get me heading in the right direction.....one thing though....I have no idea if the previous own had touched the idle screw, so i would have to believe the might have done that.

On q #1 FOC removes all the tranny weight so the truck will move faster (less gears to turn). And yes. no more backing up. thats not legal in racing anyway.

Q #2
Add some after run oil to make it a little easier to turn over, and Use a heat gun to heat up the new picco.

Also, try the search feature. there has to be something there for breakin.

hope that helps

funny thing is, the lhs that rebuilt the engine told me they used after run while putting it back together. He had to tear it down completely because the day I got the truck, I did a couple of easy laps in the grass and then the next thing I knew the motor died. Tried to restart it but locked up on me. When I inspected to see what had happen, discovered that a piece of the piston arm had broken off and wedged itself between the block and the arm.

Try the heat gun or a hair dryer. The heat will expand parts and make it easier to start.
Maybe ask them to break it in for you if your a novice.

ohh yeah, definitely a novice. I think will ask if the will break it in.....although, probably should do it myself...save myself some money and learn something new. From what I understand, these motors need constant attention specially with weather changes and what not.

Your not wrong there! ;)

If you can figure a way to heat it up, that would be best. Whether you heat it up or not, back the glowplug out 1/4 turn. This will release some compression, which will make it easier to turn over. As soon as the engine starts up, take off the heater and tighten the plug back down.

Google can be your friend: OFNA Manuals Page. I didn't open any particular manual to see what it contains. But the manufacturers web-site is always a good place to start.

Now get us some pics of it in action. :D

Yes a FOC eliminates the reverse gears as well as the Opti-Drive.

if you got one i would say to invest in a Fail Safe for your motor, and depending on what model Revo you have. you should get a Center Differential, and rear brake kit to help control the Big power that comes out of that Picco .26 Maxx with 500K oil and change the front diff to about 50K diff oil and the back diff to 20K weight oil. and if you got the money. invest in some RRP steal Front and Rear Diff Gears. i have never stripped a gear since i installed them on my revo.

this is all meant if you have a Revo 3.3 chassis. if you have a 2.5R Revo its still possible to install the Center Diff and Rear brake conversion. it will just take some modification to the chassis.

With the big power plant you have in your truck, it will brake alot more drivetrain parts than with a normal 3.3 or 2.5R
upgrade as many drivetrain parts as possible like CVDs, Wheels, Diffs, Tranny and Brakes.....you wont be sorry!

Good luck with your Revo

what I know the revo has: there is no reverse on the truck at all (no extra servos and what not), has rear brakes, sure if it has center diff, blue RPM upper/lower rear/front A arms, blue aluminum chassis. and oh yeah one hell of a motor. My two buddies have got a Losi Aftershock and those come with a 26 but it's nothing like what that picco is!!!! I'm still in the process of breaking/tuning in my motor and I can tell that thing has more ass to it than the Aftershocks motor.

As for the manual I did look and find that page mentioned above but wasn't sure which motor chart to look at the 21 max or the 26 big block.
