The traxxas nitro rustler or the hpi firestorm? Which is faster/handles better? Which one is cheaper to maintain and has parts more readily avaible? Which one would you buy? Thanks guys!

I have a Nitro Ruster, Its very easy to work on, alot of parts out for it. With a set of RPM arms I havent had any trouble. I have the 2.5 Version. The HPI is alot like the Losi XXX-NT and I have heard great things about it. They are more of Stadium Truck then truggys. The Rustler with the 2.5 does wheelies all day long. Had to add some extra weight to mine. There was a thread or 2 about the HPI. I would like to see what the HPI is like.

Here is the Firestorm Thread in Stadium Trucks

Those are not truggies. Thoes would be in the ST or Stadium Class.

Truggies are normally 1/8th scale with 3 diffs.

If you are looking at ST class, I would check out the norm..RC10GT series or the XXXNT Series...

No problem dude... Learning is the first step in intelligence. Truggies are pretty popular so check out what your LHS carries for parts.

well I'm looking for christmas a truck that can go off road and on road, thats reliable, fast, and has alot of aftermarket parts/ upgrades that can be done to it. So i dont know exactly what i want? I'm looking to spend around $300 on the acutal car, then get the glow plug igniter fuel batteries etc etc at my local shop. I prefer brand names like traxxas hpi team losi etc cuz my shop carries parts

With the 2wd stadium trucks off road is limited to their ground clearance. There more made for the track. Depending on your off-roading a 4x4 might be better. Traxxas T-Maxx, HPI Savage, ect

well i would just be riding mostly in back yard and at the dragstrip with buddies so off roading would be mostly flat with some small jumps

i really like the rustler though do you think it would be a good truck? Does it really go 50+mph?

What ruster are you looking at? The 3.3 or the 2.5? Id say my 2.5 is close to 50+, Its very hard to control, as it is very light. Rustler needs a few upgrades to make very strong. Traxxas had one of the best service out, and tons of upgrades.

the new 2007 model i belive its 2.5 so with some alum parts it would be a lil heavier right?

Yea, when you add a little weight they run very well. Here are a few pics of mine with some of the upgrades
TraxxasNitroSport2.5Front.gif

TraxxasNitroSport2.5Rear2.gif

In this Pic you can see the RPM A-Arms, MIP CVD Kit and the engine. Mine is a NitroSport but Rustler is mostly the same.

i like the rustler best i think I'm going to go with it thanks for your help!

Remember that when you use aluminum parts add it with speed and you hit something, it can be really messy since aluminum parts tend to not flex. Be wise in what you upgrade.
