so i've been thinking of potentially doing a 'simple' nitro to BL project and with all the makers now producing conversion kits, i figure its the best time. so here is my question(s).

which truggy would you buy to convert and why? LOSI 8T with LOSI conversion kit or Associated RC8T RS with the Associated conversion kit.

What type of Lipo would you buy? 2c or 3c maxamps or other?

i'll be using a Mamba Monster Max ESC/motor combo set up...

Thanks

i dont know much about conversions but for lipos it depends what you wana do. The 3s's and more for raw power and bashing and can be a bit uncontrollable. But the 2s's are more controllable and more suited for racing. max amps is a good company also.

You wouldn't use 2S or 3S in a 1/8 scale conversion. Minimum cell count for the MMM combo in a 1/8 scale application is 4S. I would run 5S in either truggy.

Maxamps makes good budget packs but there are better cells for just a little more money such as Flightpower/Polyquest (Enerland) and Thunderpower. Zippy lipos are also fast becoming the good budget pack alternative.

For both factory conversion kits the only drawback that I see is that they "appear" to only accept 1/10 scale pack lengths. I would email both manufacturers and find out the dimensions of the battery tray.

rc-monster carries a conversion kit for either rig and also comes with a new chassis. Mike's battery tray accomodates almost any lipo pack.

Did you see my current conversion? Some good info there also.
