I'm ditching the ez start this thing has brought a quick end to too much sessions lately

i can't afford a starter box right now so was going to get a pull start or rotar start anyone using these?

could you give me your view on these and what brands you all use? thanks

I run a pull starter. I took the EZ-start off before I even fired it up the first time. I just don't like electric starters. It's too hard to tell what the engine is doing.

I use the rotostart; Hot Bodies

As reliable as a starter box (although you can still have OWB issues) and easier to tote around.

RD Racing Products starter box, Sorry I know you said it's a little out of your price range right now but well worth it if you save up!

wish i did the same maybe could of chucked it on ebay before it broke down on me...what type pull start have you got and how long has it lasted you? ...thanks

I have a traxxas 2.5 pullstart that I had to really do a lot of work to bring back to life. I had gotten it in a trade gone bad a few years back and I rarely throw anything away. I dug it out of a "junk" box of misc RC stuff that I had. I had to soak the string for an hour in solvent to get the grease/oil to breakdown enough so I could clean it. I also took out the spring, cleaned the entire housing and spring, then put it all backtogether with a light coat of oil on the spring. I've been using it for over a gallon.

Considering how bad it was abused in the first place, I can't believe the string or spring hasn't broken on me. (probably just jinxed myself...)

I don't like e-starters. More gears to maintain, batteries to have a charger for, batteries to buy, things to carry... Whether it's pull or electric, you still have a one way to deal with. From what I've read, E-starters seem to be pretty hard on one ways. At least savage one-ways.

can you run pull start AND box

Ok thanks your views guys very helpful i've just purchased a pullstart i like the idea that there is only the glow starter to carry around with.

Now one quick question if i one day get the starter box can i keep the pull start on and use the two alternatively?

i say this because the box is ideal for race days because if my truck dies for some reason a marshall would bring it back to the pit.

but i probably do more bashing than racing atm and being able to run over to my truck and start it up with the pull start is more ideal than bringing back to base to start it up on the box can you run the both?

also do you get owb with new pullstarter or do you use your old one?

Not sure about the start box but no you don't get a new OWB. YOu have to use the one from the ez-start. (perfect time to clean and lube it)

thanks mate. funny enough it just arrived this morning i was hoping you get a new one,who knows the owb could have been the reason my opti drive kept failing i jope not just phoned my lhs owb are the same price as the pull start itself :OMG: oh well i'll give it ago with the old one fingers crossed.

anyone know if i could still pop my truck on a starter box with the pullstart attached?
