Not necessarily. RC4WD has a winch with a separate wireless controller. All it needs is a battery connection.

Also congrats on the SCX-10. I love mine and am working on a new Wrangler (JK) shell for it.

The PK3 Futaba I won from here I believe has enough channels for a winch app. If not I've already been eying the 1 with the wireless remote anyway.
