I'm finally going to run my e-maxx tomorrow at work just to see if it's set up the way I want it. My question is when I'm done should I discharge and then recharge my lipos? Should I just balance charge them? They are turnigy 5000 mah 25-35c 3s. I'm unclear on exactly what I should be doing besides just putting them back in the lipo bag. Any help is appreciated.

Also does anyone know the approximate run time I'll get?

You don't need to discharge your lipos before charging them again. Just let them cool to ambient temps before charging.

If you plan on storing them for a prolonged period, fully charge them then discharge to 50% of their capacity or approximately 3.85 volts per cell.

Anytime you charge a pack that is more than 2S, always balance charge them.

On my all of my high-speed electrics, I get about 12-15 minutes of run time.

Yup balance charge them just as SD said. I balance mine every charge just to be safe. Can't hurt to do that. I figure you will get 15-20 out of the packs. That is about what I get with my Flux with the same packs.

Ok, thank you guys. My charger has a storage mode, I assume it just does what's necessary for that. How long is too long to let them sit before they need the storage charge?

I would say anything over six months. I just got back from being gone for 8months and mine were still pretty good after a storage charge. It just keeps them at a nice happy medium.

If I'm not going to be using a LiPo's or LiFe pack for more than a week I will put them in store mode. Sometimes a week can turn into 2, 3, 4........you get the idea.

I also only balance charge. It is good habit to get into.

Sounds like a plan.

Update: Just took it for the maiden voyage down at work, I'm overwhelmed at the power! I was in the warehouse and couldn't even get up to top speed because of the wheelies...;)

Brush your teeth, you were prolly smiling the entire time so theres a good chance of a bug or something being stuck on them. :hehe:

Good to take precaution for sure.

after every run i make a habit of putting them into store mode, even if i know ill be using the next day. i do this because its good for the batteries and when i want to run, i wont be waiting an hour for my batts to charge cause they're already at 3/4 their capacity
