The racing bug is just sucking me in more and more as of late. So I'm currently in the middle of building up my toolbox/track box.
This past saturday, I strayed away from my normal track, to another place, and was just totally unprepared tire wise. My usual track is watered at the start of the night, and usually holds moisture well until after the mains. It stays pretty loamy, but towards time for the mains it start to get packed some, from all the 1/8 traffic. With just a few dry spots. Most of the guys run bowties or step pins there, and normally I have either a panther medium soft step pin, or a m3 lugnut. I did just invest in a set of m3 bowties to try out though.
I traveled to a track where they do mostly oval racing, and a watered after every round, hard packed with just a tad bit of loose stuff on top track. I hadn't glued the bowties yet, so i was stuck with a set of step pins the whole night. I had one buddy there, that was hooked up with his set of evil twins. What I'm getting at.
I'm planning to travel to more and more tracks, and want to be prepared everywhere I go tirewise. So what tires do you think are essential to have in your box and ready to rock?
