hey everyone

My friend bought the savage X SS.

i just finished putting it together for him today. started at 5:30 yesterday evening and worked untill 3am
woke up around 10 and had the break in session started by noon.

ran into a problem today after break in.

7th tank..
pulled a wheelie and the left rear wheel went crazy on me.
i walk up to it.
"oh crap i broke it"
got to lookin at things, and the left rear hinge had slid out, right one was half way.

i looked through the instructions many times. nuthing on any sort of assembly to keep them in the truck, so what do you guys do?

went to the the store and picked up one of those 1 foot wide magnets on wheels..rolled it around the yard in the general area of where it happend, nuthing.

found a replacent.

these pins, forgot the correct name. but its just a huge body clip pretty much.
same exact size as the stock hinge pin.

cut the longest part off right as it curved around and created a hook, ziptied that to the shock towers, did both front and rear. works great!

so whats up with this portion of the truck?

thanks

I know what you are talking about. They use the ears of the bumpers to hold them in. I used a ziptie to keep them tight.
Pictures will explain.

wow...

never would have thought thats how it all worked out.

thanks a bunch!!!

gonna need a new package of pins now.

The skid plate holds the lowers in.

no crap! i just told you that.

I'm not talking or asking questions about the lowers, only because i didnt have a problem with the lowers.

if you READ, you can see that i was asking about how to upper hinge pins were held in place and what not, never said a word about the lower hinge pins falling out or having any sort of problem with them

No need for the attitude. Olds was trying to help. You never specified which hinge pins you were having trouble with.

I quoted what you did reply with... sarcasm doesn't make it across very well in text.

You said "yea..the lower hinge pins. lol not the uppers". I'm guessing that was just sarcasm and I didn't pick up on it.

Either way, it appears you have gotten it sorted out.
