I would get a used X over the 25 depending on price. If you can afford it, a new one would be the way to go so you don't inherit someone else's potential problems.

The X fixes some common dislikes of savage owners, I've heard from some people on another forum that the x seems weaker, like the diffs.

yes but if i go with that i also have to get the radio and electronics

how much does a radio and electronics cost? i mean lower end radios are like 50-60 but how much are the electronics?

If you want everything new the SS kit will put you closer to the $600.00 mark....even with cheap electronics. Remember aside from a battery and charger fuel and extra glow plugs or must have items. Although the kit is fun to put together and you would know your truck inside and out it's not the cheapest route.

IMO you will like any of the Savage trucks just keep in mind that with any nitro rc there will be growing pains. What ever you decide on there is always someone here to try and help.

If I could buy a new truck in your price range it would be a Savage X

I bought the Savage X RTR and by the time I upgraded the electronics and a tuned pipe, hump packs, etc. I spent over 600.00 It would have been better just to buy a kit.

As soon as i can I will be getting the X SS.

Thats my suggestion to you!

my first ever RC was the savage SS 4.6, it was the best thing I ever did going with the highend stuff not messing around getting frusturated casue the equiptment was the problem, made trouble shooting user error most of the time!

i sold my savage 25 today and i just picked up a brand new savage x. when i sold mine though i put all of the stock stuff back on it and i am tranferring it to my new truck

I'm going to get the x i guess then i can add hop ups whenever i have the money

ok i may buy a new savage x ss, i would really like to build it and know the inside and outside of my truck. i was just wondering if you have to have the electronics to build it or if you could build it then go back and put in the electronics later. if you can do this, i may just buy the kit, build it, then come back with the electronics later. i also have a question about tower hobbies. when you go through it and you're putting your credit card # in, is that how much it really is or do they not tell you the tax. hobbytown's price is 449 and i dont think it includes tax and tower's say 443 and that includes shipping.

Tower doesn't charge tax unless your in the same state, then I think you have to.

As for electronics, you should just put them in when you build it. To get to the whole servo setup it requires some work.

ok, well the only kit i've built already had all the grease you needed. so would i need to buy the diff. oil and the other stuff with this one?

If you want to use oil, then yes. It comes with some little tubes of grease, but no oil except maybe shock oil.

but the grease is what you use on it? I'm just new to this and i want to try to figure out how much money it will take to complete it

Grease is just a cheap alternative. If you want better stuff, spend a few extra bucks for about $4 a bottle and get some Differential oil for them. It lasts longer and lubricates better. I found 5,000 wt to be a good all around bashing oil (for front and rear diffs)
