OK first off I would like to realliterate how much of a pain in the butt it is to tune the 2.5. When I get it running good, it is at 320-340 degrees but still blowing a very good amount of blue smoke. My major problem is that now and again, especially right after turning, I nail the throttle and it just sits there and revs and I have to feather the gas so it will catch and then wants to wheelie onto its back. Its like it gets stuck in neutral and then kicks in. I have a FOC and that is about it. Thanks in advance.

Your problem might be your slipper clutch or the clutch shoes themselves. How tight do you have the clutch nut that holds the spur gear in place? If it is too loose, the engine will over power the slipper clutch and the spur gear will never engage the tranny. If your clutch shoes are worn beyond use, then you will get the same kind of behavior...no grip from the clutch shoes means no clutch bell rotation which in turn means no movement inside the drivetrain.

No Sky, its not like its slipping, its like the damn thing goes into neutral and I can sit and rev the motor as high as I want without any kind of load but as soon as I let the rpms come back down, it just "kicks" into gear and away I go just like normal. I have my slipper damn near locked down and my clutch is fine. I even saw the tranny the last time it did it and the spur was spinning like no ones buisness while it was in neutral but then it just took off.

The only thing I can think of is perhaps when you installed the FOC, that something didn't quite go back in the way it should have. I'll have to let someone who knows more about the FOC and internals of the tranny field this one. Sorry.

Its cool man. I have had the FOC in there a while and I noticed that after I installed it, it still clicked on take off real bad which I thought was odd being that was always associated with the reverse module. Well now 6 months later it doesn't click anymore, now it does this. I think there may be a one way bearing in the gear set in the tranny that may be going out but I will have to investigate this one.

Yeah there is a one way bearing that in inside 1st gear that has gone out.

I've got the Foward Only Conversion from traxxas installed in my tranny too and never had any problems like that?

I'd say start from the crank and work your way to the wheels:

1. gas it and watch your Bell Gear.
a. does it move? Yes , move on to the next step. No, fix your clutch.

2. gas it and watch your spur gear and slipper.
a. does your bell gear properly spin your spur gear. if not, check your mesh.
b. check that your tension nut on the inputshaft rotates with your spur gear. if not, slipper could be too loose.

3. if all of the above looks to be in good order, you could have a problem in your tranny. Pull it apart and take a look inside. Folow the factory diagrams to make sure everything is put together correctly.

4. check your drive lines and axels. I've already had to replace mine because they twisted and bound up....All of them did.

5. Check your Diffs.

added stuff, I recently (this week) had a wheel bearing blow up and it was causing a binding in my rear end....it would take alot to get going and would pull to one side when I got off the gas.

ttt,

Mmm this sounds just like My problem. but I have the stock tranny. I want to swap to a FOC

I have a MAXX with a sirio .18 I picked it up used. in trade for my srs4. The guy had the rear Diff in backwards. I just finished that fix 2nite. and now I'm trying to hunt down the next problem.

if I just ease on the gas Its all fine. but If I just get into it it revs to the moon and doesn't go anywere. I'm gona mess wiht it more tomorrow. Just figurd Id bing this back to the top and ask if you figured out what your problem was.
