Everyone keeps mentioning bump steer in custom projects and I want to know what it is and how I can prevent it in my upcoming custom drag car.
Bump steer is when the car steers a little bit when encountering a bump in the road. As the suspension compresses, the steering moves. I hope this helps

Ah thank you, do you have any tips for eliminating/preventing it in a custom project?
I'm sorry, but I have never had to deal with bump steer in my vehicles so I don't know how to prevent them on an rc. On the real thing, you want the steering arm about center of your steering system or tie rod

Your steering link swings around an arc. As your suspension moves up and down, the steering link follows that arc, which pulls the spindes inward, turning your steering.

The best you can do is try to ensure your steering link is as parallel as possible when your suspension is 50% compressed. Servos on axles do not suffer bump steer. Servos on chassis' do.
