What is the best brand of glow plug you can get I'm just swiching from electric to nitro and I know nothing of glow plugs. I'm looking at getting an hpi mt2. I would be great if someone could tell me the number of glow plug I would need and also the best brand.

I was wondering the same thing about the glow plugs--mainly, do I need a cold, med, or hot plug, and do I need a long or short plug?

I'm running an HPI Nitro MT2 truggy with 20% O'Donnell fuel, mainly for recreation but I may race if I get better at driving. :-)

While I'm not the most experienced either I believe your plug choice would be based on not only the % of nitro you burn but the ambient temps as well. I always burn 20% and will switch up plugs depending on the weather. A "cold" plug for the extremely hot days and a hot plug during the fall weather to help ignite the fuel better

i run traxxas plugs in my traxxas and os plugs in everthing else
i also run traxxas fuel in all my traxxas and byrons in everything else
some people have opinions on certain fuel and plugs so imo it up to you to choose what you want to use
i have been running this way for years and never had a problem

Their's no definitive Answer to your question. I don't think anyone here would have the audacity to say who makes The Best plugs and fuel. It's all personal experience and opinion like many things in life. Some will alway stand out as great or crap.

For Non Euro Engines that don't need a Long plug my favorite Glow Plug of all time is the O.S. #8. They're top quality, consitent and easily avaliable. It's a medium heat range plug that'll provide a good tuning window(i/e they aren't sensitive).

I like any Fuel that's cheap or free.

My favorite for Avaliability and Consistent Quality is O'Donnell still but I've run tons of different fuel. I've gone through lots of Traxass with great results.

For your new Venture I'd highly reco the O'Donnell RTR fuel.

Peace

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone! I got the O'Donnell 20% and will be picking up a new plug (probably an OS #8 for starters) tomorrow.

Here is something we also need to ask...what engine are you running? Is it the stock HPI .18? If that is the case I will agree with Nitro above that the OS #8 is a good plug for 20% nitro. There are too many variables to say "that" is the best. Some engines require long plugs....some short. There are turbo plugs and non-turbo (normal plugs). Some engines must have hot....some only want cold. I wish there was the silver bullet that makes everything easy.
