If everyone reads the thread correctly nemesis is a newb & the best way to learn the car is by starting out with a mild engine but if you want to take the fast approach then I would suggest a nova rossi ns3 but if you want a wicked fast motor pm me on what you are looking to spend & I will get you a couple of motors to pick from
Also forgot to mention I have 2 new Rb X12 160 shipped Turbo or non Turbo

can you guys give suggestions on a mild engine as well. i just want to get my feet wet in onroad racing. i can always upgrade later. then again a rb and novarossi sounds good. its all kinda confusing on what to get.

The RB that 710baby has is a nice engine. It was the first italian engine's that I owned and I absolutely loved it (till I trashed it in a bad spill). Don't confuse it with the Mugen X12, different engine's. The RB X12 was the predecesor to the V12. The Novarossi that I own (NS12S3A1) is discontinued but some places still have it. Beautiful engine, holds a tune very well and lots of power. The same goes for the V12.

rb x12 that 710baby has sounds pretty good. i may buy it from him sometime in august when i get the money and if he still has it by then. anyway thanks for all the input guys.

Actually, he's trying to offload them for a friend of his that has a hobby store. I just ralized that those are standard threaded shafts. Contact him for more info on those engines in particular.

I owned one RB X12 and it was a ported Rody Tuned version too.The Sirio I had would beat it up bad. From the bottom to the top..The RB didn't want none of the Sirio..I vote for Sirio...The fastest engine I ever ran..

thank you all for the help. i just bought a tc3 plus rtr for right now. i figured i might as well learn everything i can with the tc3 before i spend big bucks on the engine and pipe for the 710. once I'm confident with my tuning skills i will get sirio engine and a good pipe for the 710. thanks again all for the help. its much aprecaited.

thanks. once i get better i will take my 710 out of the closet and fix it up right.

When I first started with on-road, I started off with the NTC3 Team Kit (Version 1). Over all the NTC3 is a very capable car. After I raced it for a full season, I found some things that fell short of what I needed. I basically outgrew the car. That's when I switched to the Serpent710.

Now that I have been racing the 710 for some time now, I found it a lot different, performance and response wise, when comparing it to the NTC3. It is just a more nimble car and adjustability seems infinite. The biggest thing that you will find more frustrating is getting it set to the way you drive.

I know the 710 you have since you got it from 710baby. He raced that thing heavily and if the settings were kept to the way he had it, it will be on point so you have an advantage. It will be responsive, especially if you have the proper servos in it to respond to your input.

Do not be afraid to use the serpent. By far, it is not a basher. Even though some would just run it in the park, it really is a performer so try to get it on a track. You will see where she shines. Leave it on an unprepared parking lot surface and you won't see too much difference when comparing it to the NTC3, except for how nimble it is. ALSO, the NTC3 RTR doesn't have a oneway in it. When you drive your 710 for the first time, take it easy with the brake. Big difference between a diff and a oneway. You basically have no brakes in the front so it will bring the rear around on you very easily if you don't dial out the brakes.

Enjoy your serpent and NTC3.

I'm not really afraid to use my serpent. i just dont want to ruin a 160-250 dollar engine. i figured i would rather spend the money on the rtr and learn whatever there is to learn. once I'm confident with my tuning abilities i will go all out with the serpent. anyway I'm going to enjoy both cars once everything is all done. thanks again guys for all the help.

What I meant is don't hold back on the 710. It's meant to run and perform very hard. Get to know the characteristics and dynamics of on-road with your NTC3. It's a bit different than offroad but can be just as fun. There's a little bit less room for "Fudging" with setup, handeling wise, but once you have it down pat to what you need ... let her rip! Enjoyment will be found with both cars.

Can someone chime in with what pipe to run with for these engines? I just picked up a Serpent 710 and I'm sure that I will be looking for plenty of advice.

Thanks for the help!

What type of engine, track size and layout will determine the better pipe for your car. There really is no best, just a better application.

I was hoping that there would be a good "middle of the road" style pipe that would deliver good bottom end as well as top end performance. I plan to race at a track that has some long sweepers and very few tight technical turns. I understand that It is tough to tune the car to each parameter of the track, possibly a pipe / engine combo with some good top end will allow me to make good time around the track as opposed to a set up that is restricted for a tight course.

Unfortunately the track is quite a ways away and I can't just run out there and see what everyone else is using to get a baseline set up.

Ok, there are a few pipes available. I can give you the EFRA #'s as well as pn's. Just let me know what engine you will be using as well as the gearing on the car. If it's stock gearing, then all I need is the engine you're planning on using. I'll be contacting you later anyway so we may be able to talk about it then.

BTW, the RDL Turbo2 is not EFRA legal.

If I don't catch ya on aim, I'll try my best to give you the info and why for each pipe so you can make the educated "guestimation" yourself. LOL

To start out I am planning to go with stock gearing until I get out to the track and see what the others are running. I have an email in to the club to try and get some information but I have not heard back from them yet, it was just sent today.

I have narrowed my engine choices down to these 3;

Novarossi NSR12S3

Mega ZX12 Legal Race (not sport) - Either with powerpack which includes pipe or by itself depending upon price

RD Logistics R3

Talk to you later Diver.................

The NSR is probably the best out of those engines.

You can't go wrong with a Novarossi/Rex/Top one piece pipe with that engine.

Suggestions and options have been already discussed. Pro'sand con's weighed. Ysr04, if you have any more questions you know how to reach me. Not many run a serpent here, but I hope that all those questions have been answered. For setup, depending on which engine/pipe you pick from last night's discussion, the settings on your chassis will vary only slightly. Read your setup guide that came with the car. Always keep it handy.
