I always loved rat rods, so I tried to go for a tow truck hot-rod style for my on-road-er, at least until I got my hands on some actual body. I used wood fiber boards to make a small square chassis, and I tried to paint faux rust on it.

Here, I've cut the wood.

Here, I've covered the pieces in wood glue:

And here is the end body sitting on my car:

I personally think the faux rust looks awesome, and the wood should hold up until I get money for a body. I also used bits of cinnamon when painting to give it that rust feel to the touch. I also made a towing winch for it, but it's still outside drying.
What do you guys think? I'll post photos of it with the winch once it dries.

If that's the look you were going for, you totally nailed it. :trophy:
Damn it, I went back to its original F1 body, I ain't good at woodworking.

From my phone's screen, which isn't bad, it looks like you've got the rust look pretty well and a good base for an old t bucket type body. Personally, I SUCK with wood! So no matter how I look at it, I can only look with admiration! I 'wooden' give up if I were you! Practice makes perfect! :thumbs-up:
