I've chose to get a traxxas slash i was wondering what kind of battery to get for it

I like to run a minimum 3200mah 2 lipo 20C pack on stock gearing. Most of the time I run 4800mah 2S 20C.

If you are new to electric's I wouldnt recomend a lipo with out a low voltage cutoff, (stock slash has none) You have to be careful in watching your rig, to make sure that you stop running before the battery's cells get too low.

I ran venom 7c hump pack's through mine, but would run no less mah than like a 4500.

Absolutely correct. If you are new to RC and lipo especially, make sure you run a lipo cutoff if you go this route.

However, there is no rule that says you can't run lipo if you are new. Follow the manufacturer warnings and handle them with care. If you need more info there is a ton of info on the subject....use the search function.
