What are the absolute best tools you can buy?

I'm just getting into nitro and electric rc trucks. I have the LST2 and the e-revo 1/16th trucks. Seems like there are 50 tool brands and all different combo's you can buy. I saw the new 29 piece Integy racers kit, and it looks good for the money if you break down what you are getting by the piece. But I don't want to spend just yet and would rather buy the best like snap-on for automotive use. Are there any veterans out there that are confident in the top brand and most complete selection available. Will I have to buy multiple brands to get the best? In other words like snap-on, mac, matco. Each one seems to have a tool better than the other even though snap-on is clearly the best on average. Thanks for the help. You can't believe how much time I have spent on looking at all the different tools out there. I'm giving up and asking for help. :\

I'd say Hudy, but to be fair I'm going with my experience with one single tool and that's the small philips screwdriver that came with my old M18. It is hands down the best screwdriver for it's purpose in my house.

Well, it may depend on what your looking for.

Hudy makes good tools, only have one wrench.
EDS makes good looking tools, haven't bought any yet.
Dynamite makes pretty good tools, have had a few.
Losi makes good hex wrenches, have had the same set for 8+ years. Handles are a bit soft so the set screw strips pretty easily. Not a problem if you don't take it out all the time like I've been doing. I'd put the bit in a drill and use it. Those days are now over.

My wife just picked up a good set of OFNA hex bits that are really nice. Especially for the price. Hudy now offers hex bit tools as does EDS. I've been using them since Christmas on various vehicles and they hold the screws really well. Only wish they were magnetic.

Personally, if you do a lot of wrenching, getting a decent lipo screw driver combined with a hex bit set will be the best bang for your buck.

I use only one ball-end and that's for engine mounts when I'm feeling too lazy to take the head off. However, with my new long hex drivers, I can get at most engine mount screws straight enough to get a good bite. With these small screws, ball ends strip them out so stinking easy.

I like my Team Associated Hex wrenches, I just bought a new set this last year only because I liked the look of the round handles which I have found to more comfortable on the hands, I gave my brother my old set and he is still using them and they are over 15 years old, MIP also makes some nice hex wrenches I have one of there 2MM bits for my LiPo screw driver for taking apart and putting together my bead lock wheels for my crawler and let me tell you that is a lot of 2MM screws, LOL!!!!! and it fits the screws really nice...

well hudy is nice and all.. i have what i call the best ever. i have the baja skunkworks dedicated driver set. baja skunkworks is a big name small company in hpi baja parts making that is known for the best parts money can buy. the drivers are VERY pricing coming in at a whopping 210 for the whole set but if you break it down to what you need you can buy em for 30 bux a driver. you can find the tools at www.teamgonads.com on the left side go to hpi baja manufacturers, look for baja skunkworks and the drivers will be on that page.

Hudy is the only one I have settled on that is durable and take forever to wear out. I just buy the sizes I need and then replace the tips when they wear out. Especially with big trucks like the LST2 where you get allot of torque on the screws.

Thank you all for replying. I ended up buying a partially used complete set of Hudy tools off ebay for half the price as new. I really like them and the case they came in. The information was very helpful.

I just bought a set of tools and did the research at the end of last season. Hudy is top notch, but EDS and RC Pro Tools are almost identical for like half the price! I went with a set of EDS tools and love em. I think I paid $120 shipped for 14 tools total.

they are mega handles compared to others.. when your like i am and have a large scale and a small scale and need to go from metric size 6 all the way down to 1.5 with quality you can't go wrong with em. hey the thread is about the best right? not economical tools :

besides in the end if you add up the stripped screws, replacement tips, all the different ones you come up to almost that much.. a little while back the tools were 165$ for about 4 hours

for your nitro trucks. go to sears and get a 1/4 drive handle, a 8 mm deep socket 1/4in drive. then go to harbor fright and get some rare earth magnets 5/16 dia. put the magnets in the socket. it only needs 5 magnets, this will hold your glow plugs, to put them in or out. all so get a automatic center punch at sears, use it on the outer edge of a stuborn screw, it acts like a impact gun.

Mugen Seiki has some great tools, I like them better than Hudy. Losi's hex wrenches are great as well. Have had my set for 5 years now, only two months ago did I grind down the tip of the 3/32 wrench, to make it like new again.
