I have a Hyper .21 and want to figure out if it's 3 or 4 port. No difference in crankcase or head from the pictures. Needs new sleeve and piston, might just throw a 4 port in there and see what happens.

What is a port and how does it affect performance or efficiency?

The ports are basicly the passages that the intake fuel/air mix and the exhaust go through to enter and exit the cylinder. If you use the wrong cylinder sleeve then it will not work right.

Intake & exhaust ports in the engines sleeve.

The ports work in conjunction with the machined grooves/tunnels of the engine block. You have matching grooves for every port in the sleeve.

I agree that if you use a sleeve that doesn't match the block, your gonna have a heck of a time making it work for you, if it starts.
