i thought i would share this. i went to the doctor today because i had acid reflex since i was 5 and they did some test where they numb you mouth and shove a long tube down your throat woth a camera. they found a hieta hernia on my asphagis so I'm have surgery this monday. the worst part is I'm going to have to rest for the next 4 weeks and i go back to school september 6th but the bad part is i can't eat solid food for 3 weeks so that going to suck. but i thought i would share

I have suffered acid reflux for years..I no the pain....But to have the surgery whould mean 6 weeks of down time...just can't do that.....
You ever cough up the yellow poop?? That poop will wear holes in a sink!

jesus christ that must feel bad. as i know the acid from the stomach is very acidic and like zandor said will burn a whole in the sink.

Man, Surgery is bad news but good if they cure your illness, I hope everything goes ok, keep us informed, 3 weeks without eating whould be a good diet.

TUMS!?!?!

Dude, If you suffer from GERD (Gastro-Esophogial Reflux Disease), your Dr. should have you on some sort of PPI (Proton Pump Inhibitor). The PP's are what produce the acid and the market is full of good drugs that temporarily shut the little boogers down.

If you have had GERD since you were 5.... and you doc didn't prescribe one of the above....... and the disease has advanced to the point of surgery......

well I've been on prilosic didnt work then i went to previcid and been on that butt it didnt help that much

WOW, you have had it bad!

I had GERD. It was mostly due to drinking a couple of beers and then eating late. This lasted about 3-4 years. And yes, that yellow stuff in the morning was nasty stuff.

My doc told me first to try using Pepcid Complete tablets at night, a little bite off of a chewable every 10-15 minutes when I first went to bed. That did not work so he said take Pepcid AC first thing in the morning and use the chewables if I feel the burn at night. Completely cured it. He said next step was to go to Rx meds but he wanted to fiind something I can take OTC so I can buy it almost anywhere. (I travel a lot)

I had gastro problems and changing jobs really helped me. I am still doing the same thing I was doing but moved and it solved my problems. My job now has much more responsibilty and requires about three times more travel but I'm at ease with it and no more reflux.
