well i bought (traded) for a used savage and it ran great for two full tanks now its acting up,it was running all funny and it sounded like it was making a popping noise at half throttle like it was unbelievably rich tons of white smoke and died . Every time. So I tried to tune it, didn't work, cleaned and rebuilt the carb, cleaned and inspected the internals of the engine and they looked clean no pitting or scratches. Any ideas? i can't even lean it out.

I got a new plug and same thing its weird its like a mid range rich just a huge amount of smoke and then it concks out. The savage came with the hpi tuned pipe (the purple one) not to sure if that could cause this problem or bad fuel.

Ask you bud how old that fuel was, if its not stored right then the nitro will have evaporated

If your using a stock pipe check that exhaust boot that connects the pipe to the header, look for cuts or holes

How many needles does your carb have?... If its three try resetting you mid range needle/sprayer bar, it's usually the one opposite side of the carb slider on the carb (by the fuel in feed line to your carb)

A good rule of thumb is to start with a fresh gallon of nitro when you head out to play!

I know expensive right, but I've seen guys go through 3gallons in an afternoon/day. Just bashing

You might just need to break that engine down and seal it up with some high temp silicone, wait 24hrs for silicone to cure and then slap it back together.

the fuel has been stored in my basement. there is a rip in the exhaust boot would that cause the problem ? and it only has two needle hsn and lsn. and i will reseal the engine

Ya if your exhaust ain't sealed up there's not enough back pressure for the engine to have proper combustion, if you can find a pipe combo that uses springs (3) to clamp the header/manifold and the pipe together, sorry but the only ones I have are jammin jp pipes and an ofna 086 pipe combo for you to google "I don't know the name of the exhaust coupling" hope it helps

Well ill buy a bunch of new glow plugs an exhaust gasket and look at new fuel but the fuel I'm using I run it in two truck this savage and a revo 3.3 and the revo runs great. Thanks for all your help

sealed the engine put in a new exhaust gasket...... runs like a charm still does catwalks at half throttle :)

AND I'm broken again hahaha this time i sheared a dog bone good thing i have spares :) I've got it tuned perfectly

If your slipper clutch is to tight you will snap dogbones. I snapped 4 dogbones in one days worth of bashing. Was my slipper

Is also how you drive it. A lot of guys have to run a slipper almost locked down with high torque engines, myself included. I have yet to snap a dogbone. Horride center cup wear, but the dogbones held up. I did upgrade to teh super HD flux bones/axles with BP diffs.

Anyone know why HPI hasn't offered a larger dogbone set for the centers?
