I am going to figure this out....not tonite.LOL

 Each color still holds its value...

when you add up the squares from the top one it comes out to 13 including the partials. Then add up the sides from the yellow green and blue, it only comes to 12 hence the extra hole.

huh I can see that the degree of decent from the top to the very end gets lower so I can only think that the difference in degree is causing the difference. Great I am confusing myself.

The identical mass taking up different amounts of space. It caused my brain to drain, so I copied it with the intention of running it through Photoshop where I can move the pieces.
I should have an answer for you in several months.

the bottom part of the 2 triangles is concave slightly in the first one
and then convex in the second one..becaue they are rotated 180 deg..look at the point of intersect on each Hor. line....that's the difference in space...

space Here is to space when god made men.He made them out of string...He had A little left so he gave them a little thing!

When god made woman. he made them out of lace..He had A little left so he gave them A little space!!! HERE IS TO SPACE

It's not concave. That's an optical illusion. It still wouldn't account for one full square on the grid.

 To SPACE

hope this is on topic I am on code #4 these are FUN http://www.etienne.nu/imagepuz/ they are worth trying you may need to do things like save, look at properties, zoom in and highlight to get the answers for these
let me know what you think

you are right here... Just put a straight edge up to it and check it out for yourself, but I'm not seeing how this will affect the area for the extra square

grab a crayon and start coloring. I saw the empty box and said "AAAAAAAAAW F* it" in about 10 seconds flat. No sense in trying to find ont why bumble bees can fly from flower to flower instead of walking, just as the laws of physics implies. Just accept it and crack open another bottle of beer.

The longest point on both the yellow and the green are 5 squares when on top of each other they make a perfect rectangle when you move the yellow to the left where its longest part is meeting the shortest part of the green it leaves a space because the yellows shortest part is two squares and the green is 3 squares and the triangles just trade places.

So herein lies the conundrum. Both images occupy an area that is identical in size. They are both 13 units wide by 5 units high. That suggests both triangles have an area of 32.5 units. They both cast the exact same footprint. So rearranging them shouldn't cause that gap without causing a major distortion in ....

Ahhh screw it. I cheated and looked up the answer. I hate puzzles like that...

it is a concave on top and convex on th ebottom....if you fill in the space in the concave to level the line out that= 1 square....
