i have a scx10, bone stock at the moment. but i am noticing that there is some bounce to the truck when trying to climb some things, seems like the truck is too light and not getting the traction that it needs. i am wanting to put some weights in the wheels, both front and back, i have read here that you guys use the stick on wheel weights they use for really nice 1:1 wheels. my questions are, how much weight is a good start for me? and will i need to change or alter the foams after the install?

i look forward to the knowledge you are about to bestow apon me, oh great scaler/crawler gods! lmfao:hehe:

If you can find some 1/4oz led weights that will fit, then thats what you would want. You can use bb's as well. You might have to make a small channel in the foam depending on how tall the weights are. If you can stick 2-3 oz per wheel up front and maybe 1-2 per pack, you would be doing pretty good with that. Are your tires able to get air out easily?

yeah, the axial 8 hole beadlocks "breathe" really well. i have been thinking about trying to dremel them out to put a spent .380 or 9mm inside each of the 8 holes in the wheel with bb's or lead pellets for weight. but i want a xtra set of wheels incase i screw em up. so all in all about 3/4 pound of weight added to the wheels are gonna help?

** i knew that SNG was gonna be the first to respond to this post. thank you for all your help, it has been invaluable.

two wheels at say 3 oz each, and then two more at 2 oz would be 10 oz total... 16 oz is a pound. so thats where i got the 3/4 pound from.

thanks for the link ncnitro!

go to a tire shop, talk to the manager. they will sell you the lead stick on weights pretty cheep. That is where i got mine.

That's where I got mine too, but the manager gave them to me for free, he just asked me to come by with the truck one day so he could check it out.

I got mine given to me at a local Pep Boys Auto, I just brought a tire and wheel with me so I could kinda explain how we use the weights and they asked me how much I needed, I walked out with about 10 3oz sticks free of charge. But then again that was when my rig was a tank with about 8oz in each front wheel and 4oz in each rear....About half that much evenly spaced around the wheels will make a huge difference.
