Okay guys, it is that time of year and I am in the market for a Weed whacker/eater. Somthing around $150 and is well balanced, I will be using it on tall grass and small blackberry bushes.

Any suggestions, I have the basic stores Wally World, Sears, Ace Hardware, Lowes, Home Depot. I plan on going in and looking just want some user opinions.

Thanks

The Ryobi I have has been the absolute best weed whip I've ever owned! Starts on the second pull, no matter how long it has sat and eats through just about anything!

NO WAY! Mine was a dog, gave worse blisters than a newbie trying to start an OS .12, had it tuned up 4 times and finally wore it out in about a year and a half. The guys at the shop said the'd never seen a piston so burned up and asked if I knew it required OIL in the gas . . . they thought I ran it on straight gasoline lol . . .

My vote goes for a STIHL. Just bought one last year, I think it cost us $145, the trimming heads on these are 10X better than standard weedeaters. You don't even have to remove the head to reload - just line the knob up with the holes, stick one end in each hole, and start turning the knob. Wind it in until it starts to get tight. Get the H.D. brush trimmer with it, it will saw through blackberries like nobody's business.

When I 1st moved into my place I bought a Ryobi one at a garage sale. I'm sure it has quite a few hours on it, and the thing still runs like a clock.
