I have the factory servos in my revo 3.3 along with the tq TX. I noticed that the braking is pitiful even if I adjust the braking on the TX in the menu system for Max braking. Is there something that might be setup wrong or do I just need a more powerful servo?

is there a screw or a nut on your brake linkage? if so screw that in alittle and your bbraking should improve. if not, you might need a new brake pad

The brakes lock up strong by hand and I have the nut adjusted just before the point where they drag. I would have to assume its a weak servo. The brake pads look new still. Maybe I need to sand the pads slightly?

Check the brake pad mounting screws for the right gap. Its somewhere in the ballpark of 0.5-1.0 mm I'm pretty sure. The manual has it noted. Also you might try mounting the linkage in a different hole on the servo horn.
What servo is on it? I had a 2075 on mine and had no problems.

You can also replace the spring on the linkage with a piece of fuel line. It will give you a more positive braking with less trigger.

Thanks guys, I will check those things. I just got it back together today after an epic crash where I mauled everything attached to the motor. Just gotta pick up a new clutch tomorrow and I will work on the brakes. Are you guys getting enough power to lock up the tires on the stock setup?
I only have my redcoats earthquake with a futaba 3003 servo for throttle/braking to compare with and it stops much better. Although it is lighter.

i have towerpro(i think) servo's
when i go to break, if the tires get a good bite i can stand it on the nose

As is mine will slow down like a full size pickup with bad breaks. The nose dives a bit (have the shocks almost fully preloaded), but it never stops fast enough to avoid a crash. I wont be able to play with the brakes until tonight, but I still have to try the above suggestions.

You could give the pads and disc a light sanding with fine sand paper. Then clean the parts with nitro cleaner or da. Then you can reassemble everything, while making sure everything goes together properly. Then you'll have the pain in the ass part eliminated.:) After that, you'll know it has to be in the adjustment/linkage. It's possible that the servo is going bad. I used a 2018 servo on my Maxx for quite awhile, and it had enough torque to lock up the tires. If your not using a rechargeable receiver pack, your losing a lot of servo performance. 4aa cells don't cut it.

If you're able to dive the nose with heavily preloaded shocks, the issue may not be your servo.
My Revo uses a stock servo for the brake and it's able to lock up the wheels.
You don't want a set-up where you're locking up the wheels because that won't slow you down faster; you'll just skid into the crash instead.

Have you considered letting off the gas earlier?
If your Revo is heavier and possibly faster than your Earthquake - you have to adjust your driving style to avoid crashes.

True, ill host up a video later and you guys can tell me what you think.

I had issues with that before as well. The stock servo was too weak for me. I replaced it with a 170oz servo and put fuel line on the brake linkage instead of a spring. I still don't have it set up so it will lock the wheels, but it slows down pretty fast on concrete.

Having it set so that it will lock up the wheels is extra hard on your front diff. Similar to installing a big engine and constantly going from a dead stop to WOT. Which is hard on the rear diff.

Fuel tubing helped a bit, ill have to try sanding the pads a bit with Emery cloth.
