I second getting the digital rebel, I've been using it for about 6mos and it's great. I'm using a canon 70-200mm lens and occasionally use a 2x adapter to extend the range.

are there diffrent models of the rebel?

You can get a Rebel or a 10D.
They are close to the same camera. The 10D offerers a different case and a more flexible firmware.
