Hey guys i am new in nitro RC and i was wondering if nitro trucks are water proof... if not can they be made water proof?

Nope, and nope. Being as a nitro engine requires air to run, the best you'll be able to do is make it water resistant. You can get waterproof servos, and put your rx in a balloon or a waterproof rx box like Traxxas has. This will allow you to go play in the rain and splash through puddles, but if you get water into the engine, it'll probably be finished. You'll also have to make sure and maintain your bearing, screws, hinge pins and any other metal to prevent rust.

I'm also not sure how the (probably cast aluminum) block would like it, if it's close to 200 degrees and gets splashed with cold water.

Alright thanks guys... ill look in to making my new truck water proof... i wanna shred the snow this winter

You can buy waterproof servos and you can use balloons for the receiver and receiver pack, but that still leaves you with the switch and air filter. You can find all weather filters that have a cover blocking most of it and you can usually find a silicone cover for the top of the switch at least.

many many many years ago i was in the U.S. army. we had some trucks specl made to go under water. with two pipes that went way up high. one carried air down into the engine intake. one carried ext up to the outside. we ran the truck into water and stand on the steering wheel. the only thing from the truck out of the water was two pipes, with water up to your neck.

Yep, snorkel. They also played with that idea on the M1 Abrams. Unfortunately the gas turbine (jet engine) sucks in more air than most diesels so they didn't a lot more with it in the army.
