I am thinking about racing. My friend is doing a great job talking me into it.

I like the RC8T; team associated as been around forever and they are always solid. I will get the PK4 control (unless someone convinces me otherwise).

What other kits should I consider?

What about engines? Do I go with a .21 or .28? Which .21? There doesn't seem to be much out there in terms of reviews and such.

Thank you

The RC8T is a great truggy. Others to consider is: Losi both v1 and 2.0(v1 are going for cheap now that the nwe one is here), Kyosho ST-RR, Hong Nor X2-CRT, Xray XT8 and I'm sure I'm forgetting something.......oh ya, Hobao Hyper ST(a bit heavy though).

Great choice in radio, I simply love my 4PK.

Talking about engines, what are you lookng for? Light-switch power delivery, or a more smooth powerband.

I prefer the later, and have a .21 GRP Ninja in my 8-T. It's got more than enough power to push a light truggy round a track. .28's are overkill IMO.

Other good engines are:
OS V-spec(speed if you have the cash)
Ninja JX21
GRP tuned or sport(sport has a little more bottom but less smooth power delivery)
Axe Rossi Mamba
Go .21 5 port.
JPX21 if you like brutal power down low.

There are plenty of other engines but these are the only ones I will comment on.

Thanks

I think I will go with the RC8T. Its a solid car and I can get parts locally. I do like the enclosed radio/server design of the HardBody, but it doesn't seem to be very race worthy.

I will look up the engines you suggested. I am thinking, due to the length of the tracks, that I need some quick power more than anything.

What do you think?

I think you should check into what others are using at the track, and inquire about the engines. That will also give you a chance to suss what the tire of choice is.

i know that it's a lot of money but if you can aford it i would got with a x-ray xt8 and put a trinity ex-tech .24 truggy eingine in it....at least thats what i'm doing anyway lol

I have an XT8 and it's AWESOME! It handles great and it reacts well to setup changes. I had an OS 28XZ in it and took it out. It was amazing power, but it was a bit unpredictable power. I've since put in a OS VZB V-Spec and I will never look back. What a great engine. It's got gobs of power, but when and where you need it. I wouldn't put anything else in my RCs.
