Holy monkeys, id rather that wasn't said lol

as for food, well my friends dad has a hawk, and a freezer full of chick, so if i ever get a snake i know were I'm gettin the food from

It many sound like alot but its not. Its about 10 rat pups. He is only eting one a week since I just switched from mice to rats. Some people buy live but I dont like to smell or rats in my house,

nah that i can understand, but fair play, i mean depends on choice as to what and how you feed it, id prolly use live mice/rats

Anywho, I'm k with no animals atm, or least till i get my own home or something

that fella looks great...awesome coloring. how long have you had it?(male or female?) i've had this guy about 2 1/2 years.

thanks. Its a male (I think)named Mitch. I have had him since 9/11/05. This is our first summer so I am concentrating of keeping the temps correct. He is about 3 feet. Right now he is in a 40 gallon breeder but is about to be put in a 90 gallon so I can put my amevia in the 40. I have to feed him in a couple minutes so I'll try to get some feeding shots if you guys like.

Jon I knew you were looking for a reason to get rid of me. Better luck next time. lol

let me say something

I've got a snake aswell but yours is way cooler than mine

anyway dont bother feeding your bp 'live' food as if you do give him 'live food' when you go to handle him he might stike you. as he will be going for the heat source. as for rats are they expensive ? either monday or tuesday ill be buying 1 male mouse and 1 female mouse and breeding them. much cheaper and my mate got a rock python and he will buy them of me. so ill make my money back easy. and i can sell them to the pet shop.

heres my snow corn/rat snake name whitey i think hes a male

eating a mouse

hes 4 ft 9inches athe moment

I've had him for 10 months now

Nice corn snake nitro freak. Feeding live doesn't really change the behavior of snakes. I choose ft (frozen thawed) Because it is safer on the snake. you know it wont bite. While live the rat can fight back and hurt the snake. Each one has it good and bad side. The bad side of frozen rodents is that nutrients in the rodent can be lost from being in the freezer for so long. While live rodents have all the nutrients still. If you want to compromise with the two you can do prekilled. Prekilled is when you kill the rodent and give it to your snake. This way you dont have to worry about the mouse fighting back and you still have all the nutrients that are in the rodent. I chose frozen rats because I can't bring my self to kill an animal no matter what it is.

As for pricing hear the ft rat pups cost me 2 buck a rat. When he gets bigger I will have to go up to adult rat which are around 5 bucks a rat.

are you having problems witht he tank getting too warm?...if so i would suggest a rheostat or thermostat like the one from zoomed.
http://www.zoomed.com/html/thermostats.php

it will control your heating devices to the exact temp you desire, and will control 2 heat sources up to 500w combined.

my guy is in a rubbermaid at the moment because he had RI. i have a 40gal breeder that i will be setting up for him soon and i plan on using one of those thermostats...i have heard good things about them.

that snow corn is very good looking as well, i was considering one of those before i got my ball

I am going to definatly look into that. Right now his temps on both sides are fine. Everything is right where I want it. I have been keeping my ac or my fan on to help regulating the temps. When I go pick up more crickets later this week I am going to see if my local pet store has any. Thanks for the advise.

BTW have you had any problems with sheding or eating problems with your?

i've had probably 2 bad sheds since i've had him...one was my fault for keeping the humidity too low, and the most recent one was due to the RI i believe...either way, a good soak in the tub(easier said than done) in some lukewarm water, then i just kind of lightly rub him with a towel and the leftover skin comes right of...i dont try to get it all at once, ill soak him, and get some of it off, then do it again in a couple days till i get it all off...and i've never had any feeding problems with him..i feed live, and the only goes off feed in the winter for 4-6 weeks..which is normal. you said you were picking up crickets....do you feed them to your ball?!...i've always wondered if they would eat crickets, not much nutritional value from what i've read, but a decent snack between meals
